The IPA Way

We don't drink beer - we drink IPA. This page is dedicated to our sensory appreciation of fine examples of IPA found in their natural habitat.

Bryan and Xeno used to share delicious craft brews on lazy afternoons in the Mid Atlantic region in the late 20th century. Sadly, geography keeps them apart, but The IPA Way will be a vehicle to share taste notes and pictures of the the IPAs they encounter in their travels. The primary regions represented will be NorCal for Xeno and the Western Rockies for Bryan. Imports and field trips will round

Greetings and a huge Hello from Washington DC, my hometown. I am very happy to present Port City Brewing's Monumental IPA. Since I am at sea level, I could drink 10 of these tasty buggers registering at 6.3abv. Quite tasty and chuggable with an IBU rating of 57.
Well balanced defines this beverage best. If you have a friend, and we all do, who says IPAs are too hoppy, this is the beer to share with those usually not worthy. No doubt, I'm not too objective because I'm a man proud of what they doing back home. I praise the taste of malt and caramel that's usually not available in a brew with such low abv.
So get out there and get you some. I have 4 or 5 more listed in my immediate future.

After my travels through Turkey and Denmark seeking unique flavors of the IPA variety, I have become quite scrutinous since being home.
I am proud to say while thinking globally, I am acting locally. I proudly present:
Elephunk Imperial Wild IPA.

Oh lawd have mercy! This is aptly named, its a monster. The effort displayed is great and full of spice and body. Hints of cinnamon and coriander adds some bite and with the ABV well over 7.5, it's really good. Thank you Denmark.

Well hello Denmark! This is Jacobson IPA, another fine Danish effort in hoppy goodness. Dry,crisp and full of muscle, it displays a finish similar to a double pilsner but the nose on this one is quite satisfying with the flavor it supplies. A great beer to enjoy with seafood.

Greetings from Denmark with a special Danish edition of the IPA Way. This is Albania Mosaic IPA. Not as hoppy but quite floral and fruity. At 5.7 ABV, it has a very nice balance of aroma and flavor.

I am very proud to offer my opinion on this fine offering from Bonfire Brewing in Eagle, Colorado. I present, Cit-Rawr Double IPA, a great addition to the Colorado cache of great beers.
Made with Citra, Chinook and Columbus hops, it's a hop - head's dream come true. It also weighs in at 8.0 ABV and 80 Ibu. This gives it crisp and balanced notes of flavor with a mild tickle on the salivory glands. I call it a must have and soon.
