We love Dorothy S. Paterson
Today we’re recognizing an organization doing powerful work for one of the world’s most endangered macaws: *Bird Endowment*.
Led by Dorothy S. Paterson and a dedicated team of conservation supporters, Bird Endowment is helping protect the critically endangered **Blue-throated Macaw** in its native Beni Savanna of Bolivia. Their work supports research, nest monitoring, habitat protection, education, and long-term conservation efforts focused on helping this incredible species recover in the wild.
One of Bird Endowment’s most important efforts is the **Nido Adoptivo™ “adopted nest” project**, in partnership with Asociación Armonía in Bolivia. Through donations and nest box sponsorships, this campaign helps build, monitor, and protect nest boxes on the Laney Rickman Blue-throated Macaw Reserve.
As of June 2024, an incredible **145 Blue-throated Macaw chicks** had fledged from these nest boxes — a meaningful contribution for a species with only a few hundred birds estimated to remain in the wild.
We are so grateful to **Dorothy Patterson and The Bird Endowment** for supporting the Rockstar Rescue Tour and for their continued dedication to giving the Blue-throated Macaw a brighter future.
