🥈 2nd Place is Clay Couch from ETSU, presenting his abstract: "In Search of Geochemical Controls on Speleothem Coloration in Bristol Caverns, Tennessee"!

🥉 And Rosemary Bryant from the University of Cincinnati, our 3rd Place winner, with her abstract: "Using EMI and ERT to Delineate Compound and Point Bars along the Great Miami River, Southwest Ohio"!

Get ready for an AMAZING experience at the AEG 2026 Annual Meeting! Field Course #1 is kicking off on this gorgeous day in Chattanooga!

At the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Raccoon Mountain Pumped Storage Project they will see the 8,500-foot-long, 230-foot-tall rockfill dam that impounds the upper reservoir, and also tour the underground powerhouse. At TVA’s Chickamauga Dam, they will tour the new navigation lock under construction by the Corps of Engineers. Attendees will be able to go inside the cofferdam and see the miter gates, filling and emptying culverts, and other lock features from the floor of the 110-foot by 600-foot chamber.

AEG 2026 Annual Meeting Landslides and Geologic Hazards Sessions! Just two of our 17 technical sessions. 🌍✨

Landslides: This technical session includes papers on a variety of landslide and slope stability topics including case studies, asset management, and emerging technologies.

Geologic Hazards: From landslides and fault systems to migrating mud springs, geologic hazards can have significant impacts on infrastructure, communities, and public safety. This session features three case studies examining slope instability in the I-40 Pigeon River Gorge, seismic potential associated with the Fluorspar Area Fault Complex, and the hydrologically driven movement of the Niland Mud Spring. Together, these presentations highlight the importance of understanding active geologic processes to improve hazard assessment, emergency response, and infrastructure resilience.
