But... NEW WEEK, NEW PHOTO for you all to talk about!
Some information for you to go on...
On the back of the photo is written: “Crowd sitting on a hill watching performance- photo by John H. Grant of Fairfax.”
**We need to know where this amphitheater is and who is the choir.
* This black and white photo, taken at the top of a slope, looking down at an audience in a natural amphitheater watching a musical performance. The performers are on risers in front of a wooden wall with horizontal slats. The audience is seated on blankets and some lawn chairs. A plaid, circular picnic basket in the foreground. The performance looks to be a choir of men and women all in white shirts with a piano accompaniment. The director stands in front of them in a white jacket with a music stand. There is one male singer standing in the back closest to the wall. There are several cars parked in the background, right-side of the photo.

UPDATE! Everyone has really outdone themselves and we are so grateful for all the input on the location. The overwhelming consensus is that this is a photo of a parade on Center Blvd. in San Anselmo at the corner of Saunders Ave. where Model Market was a neighborhood fixture for many years. The dates are unclear but it is likely between 1946-1951.
We are still awaiting confirmation on the Majorette.

A look at Marin’s historic Carnegie libraries It’s no secret: America’s libraries have been under siege for many years now, assaulted by budget cuts, book bannings, DEI program removals and even threats and violence against librarians. In response, libraries should be all the more che…
