We’re grateful to recognize the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund as a supporter of First Step House’s Client Assistance Fund – a flexible resource that helps remove barriers when clients need support most.

This fund allows our team to respond to a wide range of needs, from securing essential documents to helping turn housing into a livable home. Because every person’s path is different, that flexibility matters.

Thank you, Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund, for investing in person‑centered support that helps people move forward.

Something new is happening in Utah this April – and we're in.

Utah Gives is a brand-new statewide day of giving on April 30, created to spotlight local nonprofits and connect them with Utah donors who care about their communities.

For almost 70 years, First Step House has walked alongside people on their road to recovery – providing housing, treatment, and support for those who need it most. Utah Gives is one more way to make that work possible.

Early giving opens April 6 – you don't have to wait until the 30th to show up for your community.

This April, we’re celebrating National Volunteer Appreciation Month and all the amazing volunteers who show up for First Step House in so many ways.

In the past year, 175 volunteers contributed about 500 hours across 200 volunteer shifts – supporting our clients, programs, and spaces in ways that make a lasting impact.

Our volunteers help make recovery feel possible through:

🛠️ Home improvement and facility support
🥪 Food prep and meal service
💙 Hospitality and community‑building events
🌿 Health and wellness services
🗣️ Outreach, education, and direct support
📋 Organizational and committee support

Whether it’s painting a room or sharing a skill, every hour given created a more supportive and welcoming environment for people in our community.

To our volunteers: THANK YOU for your time and your generosity!

What started as ice cream turned into something much more. 🍨

A local youth group spent the evening with us, sharing dessert, conversation, and genuine connection. Our clients expressed how much community support like this means to them – and when the group left, everyone felt a little lighter. We’re so thankful for their kindness and presence.

Happy Spring Equinox! 🌸

Today, day and night are in perfect balance, and light begins to outpace darkness.

The equinox reminds us:
Balance is possible.
Light returns.
Growth follows dormancy.

As spring begins, may you find balance, light breaking through, and hope in new beginnings.

Happy first day of spring! 🌱
