Barger Farm is a small family farm where we raise chickens, grow watermelons, sunflowers, vegetables, and small grain.

Simple. Slow. Exactly the way we love it.

A garden full of growing vegetables, a couple of curious chickens making their daily rounds, and the peaceful sounds of the countryside... this is the kind of life that fills our hearts.

The world moves fast, but out here, we're reminded to slow down. To enjoy the sunrise with a cup of coffee, get our hands in the dirt, gather fresh food, and be thankful for God's blessings all around us.

This isn't a glamorous life, and it isn't always easy—but we wouldn't trade it for anything.

Sometimes the richest life isn't measured by what you have, but by the peace you feel when you step into your garden.

❤️ Simple. Slow. Home.

What does your perfect slow day look like?

It's Pickle Canning Time at Barger Farm!

There is just something about seeing jars lined up on the counter, filled with fresh, homegrown cucumbers that will be enjoyed long after the garden season is over.

Canning isn't just about preserving food—it's about preserving traditions. It's slowing down, working with your hands, and filling your pantry with food you grew yourself. Every jar represents time in the garden, hard work, and the satisfaction of knowing exactly where your food came from.

Nothing beats opening a jar of homemade pickles in the middle of winter and getting a taste of summer all over again!

Fresh. Homegrown. Delicious. That's the way we like it here at Barger Farm.

Who else is busy canning this summer? We'd love to know what's filling your pantry this year! Share your favorite canned goodies in the comments.

A father leaves footprints that time can never erase.

This picture says so much without a single word.

One man who grew up on a farm, answered the call to serve his country during the Vietnam War, came home, built a grading company from the ground up, raised a family, and taught by example every step of the way.

Today, that same company has been passed down to his grandson, and the values he lived by continue through another generation. That's what a legacy looks like.

A good father doesn't just provide for his family—he shapes it. He teaches hard work when no one is watching, integrity when no one is looking, and love without needing to say a word.

We are so thankful for all Dad has done and continues to do. Your wisdom, quiet strength, sacrifice, and unwavering love have built more than a business or a farm—you've built a family rooted in faith, respect, and perseverance.

This photo isn't just of two farmers.

It's a picture of strength passed from one generation to the next.
It's a picture of knowledge earned through a lifetime of hard work.
It's a picture of love that doesn't need words to be understood.

Thank you for showing us what it means to be a husband, father, grandfather, veteran, farmer, and leader. We are blessed because of the path you paved before us.

Some of life's greatest lessons are learned simply by walking behind your dad.

There’s something different about a boy raised by his dad on the farm.

He learns that a handshake means something. That your word matters. That the job gets done whether it's hot, cold, or raining.

He learns by watching—not from long lectures, but from early mornings, calloused hands, quiet rides in the truck, fixing fences, feeding cattle, and working side by side.

The bond between a father and son on the farm isn't built in a day. It's built over thousands of ordinary moments that become lifelong memories.

As parents, there are few things more rewarding than watching your son grow into a hardworking, respectful, kind-hearted man. We couldn't be prouder of the man you are becoming. Your work ethic, your love for family, and your willingness to help without being asked remind us that all those years together on the farm were about so much more than chores.

One day, you'll understand that the greatest inheritance a father can leave his son isn't land or equipment—it's the values he lived every single day.

We are incredibly proud to call you our son. ❤️

Little girls may grow up, but they'll always be Daddy's little girl. ❤️

There's just something about a farm-raised girl and the man who taught her how to work hard, love deeply, and appreciate the simple things in life. From riding in the tractor and feeding cows to learning that family always comes first, those memories become the foundation of who she is.

A father's love is one of the greatest blessings a daughter can have. No matter how old she gets, she'll always find comfort in her daddy's hug.

Here's to the dads who lead by example, love without conditions, and raise strong daughters with kind hearts.

💙 Farm girls may grow up... but they'll never outgrow loving their daddy.

Summertime on the Farm

If summer had a picture, this might be it.

Fresh-cut hay, rows of round bales scattered across the field, and the satisfaction of seeing months of work come together. While most people see hay bales, farmers see long days, weather forecasts checked every hour, equipment that hopefully cooperates, and a winter food supply for the animals.

It's hot, dusty, and exhausting work—but there's something special about watching the sun set over a field that's ready for the next season.

Summer on the farm isn't measured in vacations and weekends. It's measured in hay bales, garden harvests, tractor hours, and grateful hearts.

And honestly, we wouldn't have it any other way.

This view never gets old.

Looking out our back window over the pond and watching another beautiful sunset paint the sky is one of those simple blessings that never loses its magic.

Life on the farm isn't always easy. There are early mornings, long days, unexpected challenges, and plenty of hard work. But moments like this remind us why we love it here.

The pace may be slower, the hands may be dirtier, and the days may be longer—but the rewards are hard to beat.

Life on the farm is not always easy, but it is always good.

It's Officially Green Bean & Canning Season!

There is just something satisfying about sitting on the porch with a pan full of fresh-picked green beans and knowing you're putting food away for the months ahead.

Today's harvest is headed to the canner! Nothing beats opening a jar of home-canned green beans in the middle of winter and tasting summer all over again.

Quick Green Bean Canning Breakdown:
Wash and snap fresh green beans
Pack beans into clean jars
Add 1 teaspoon canning salt per quart (optional)
Fill with boiling water, leaving 1 inch headspace
Remove air bubbles and wipe rims
Pressure can at 10 pounds pressure:
• Pints: 20 minutes
• Quarts: 25 minutes
Let cool and listen for those beautiful "pings"!

A little work now means shelves full of homegrown goodness later.

Who else is canning green beans this week?

💕 Some pictures are worth a thousand memories. 💕

I came across this photo today of our sweet Claire meeting Stanley, who was such a sweet boy himself. Seeing this picture instantly took me back to that moment and all the memories that came with it.

One of the best parts of farm life is the relationships we build—not just with people, but with the animals that become part of our story. Stanley had a gentle spirit.

Today, I'm thankful for the memories, the lessons, and the special moments that a simple picture can bring back.
