Regional artists present their creative interpretations of the American abolitionist, social activist, historical shero, and icon. The exhibition runs from June 2025 through September 2025 at the Harriet Tubman Freedom Center, 3030 Center Drive, Cambridge, MD 21613.

I Go To Prepare A Place For You
Bisa Butler, an artist who uses textiles and quilting to share stories of African American history and culture, used Benjamin Powelson's portrait of Tubman from the Howland Album to recreate her vibrancy and strength. The quilt’s symbolism displays Tubman's need to conceal herself, her personality, and to express her religious beliefs.
