The evacuation order was lifted for our families yesterday. The got close enough that we (by “we”, I mean -thanks, Daddy) started taking cuttings of the murta plants just in case the fire managed to move through the neighborhood. We are so thankful to the firefighters that protected our homes. The murta berries continue to grow, developing under a dusting of ash. @ Salinas, California

Happy Father’s Day to my Dad, the talented photographer behind many of my update posts. He grew up in Valdivia eating the murta berries that grow wild in that region of Chile. It’s a 16 hour flight to Valdivia, but at least now a little piece of Chile is only a five minute walk up the block.

It’s geyser galore in the murta orchard which means we’re due for an irrigation overhaul. My spotter is on the job looking for leaks! 3 years in and the emitters I bought on Amazon are starting to disintegrate in the sun ☀️😵.

Harvest 2018: Round 2

Photos from Two Lands Farm's post 11/10/2018

We picked nearly 8 pounds of berries for our 2018 harvest season! A few samples were sent out, we made our first sale, and we finally have enough to experiment with a few value added products. 🤤
