MC Magic looks back on how his eyeshadow palette line started with a fan connection in 2020. Rosie from Lucky Lashes reached out after creating a palette and asked if she could name it “Lost in Love.” Once MC Magic saw that, he realized how deeply his love songs had connected with women over the years, and that sparked the idea to build out more palettes inspired by records like “Sexy Lady,” “Princesa,” and “Pretty Girl.”

Each palette became its own extension of the music. The “Princesa” palette stands out with a molded case, a photo frame design, a scene from the music video with Jay Ro # # #, and autographs from both Jay Ro # # # and MC Magic on the back. The “Pretty Girl” palette became the everyday neutral palette, filled with browns, tans, and glitters connected to the classic “something about this pretty girl” energy. For MC Magic, the palettes turned his catalog into something fans could wear, collect, and carry with them beyond the songs.

MC Magic looks back on “Cruisin” with Down aka Kilo, Damizza, and Butch Cassidy as one of those records that still deserves a music video. For him, the song has always felt like the perfect Chicano record to ride to, with the kind of smooth, laid-back energy that lives up to its name. He also gives credit to Damizza, who has been in his corner over the years and helped bring MC Magic into the collaboration.
That connection goes back to the Magic City era, when Damizza sent MC Magic a beat that became “So Fly Part 2” on the album. Later, Damizza brought him another record he was working on with Down aka Kilo, who had already made a major mark with “Lean Like a Cholo.” That song became “Cruisin,” a collaboration MC Magic still feels proud to be part of, and one he hopes can eventually get the visual treatment it deserves.
