The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Tornado Watch for portions of
Central into Northeast Kansas
Far Northwest Missouri
* Effective this Saturday afternoon and evening from 230 PM until
1100 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include...
A couple tornadoes possible
Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts
to 75 mph possible
Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events
to 2.5 inches in diameter possible
SUMMARY...Discrete thunderstorm development appears possible along a
remnant outflow boundary that extends from northeast Kansas through
northwest Missouri. Moist and unstable conditions combined with
moderate deep-layer shear support the potential for supercells
capable of all severe hazards, including tornadoes and large to very
large hail.
The tornado watch area is approximately along and 45 statute miles
north and south of a line from 25 miles north northwest of Salina KS
to 20 miles southeast of Kansas City MO. For a complete depiction of

A few tornadoes likely with a couple intense tornadoes possible
Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75
mph likely
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 3
inches in diameter likely
SUMMARY...Thunderstorm development is anticipated this afternoon
within the warm and very unstable airmass across the region.
Deep-layer shear is strong enough for supercells capable of all
hazards, including very large hail to 3" in diameter and tornadoes.
A strong tornado (EF2+) is possible. Strong downbursts are
anticipated as well, with one or more severe bowing clusters
possible as the mode trends more linear with time.
The tornado watch area is approximately along and 60 statute miles
north and south of a line from 45 miles southwest of Manhattan KS to

At 907 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 5 miles northwest of New Cambria to 8 miles northwest
of Marquette to 6 miles north of Claflin, moving southeast at 30 mph.
THESE ARE DESTRUCTIVE STORMS FOR Kanopolis Lake, Salina and other
portions of northwest Mcpherson, Saline, Ellsworth, Rice, and Barton
counties.
HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Trained weather spotters measured a 76 mph wind gust at 905
PM, 9 miles north of Brookville.
IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect
considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles.
Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely.
Locations impacted include...
Salina, Lindsborg, Claflin, Kanopolis, Marquette, Little River,

Widespread damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 85
mph likely
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
inches in diameter possible
A tornado or two possible
SUMMARY...Supercells should continue to transition and grow upscale
into an intense bowing cluster this evening. Occasional large to
very large hail and perhaps a tornado or two will remain possible
with any thunderstorms that can remain at least semi-discrete.
Otherwise, numerous to potentially widespread severe/damaging winds
appear likely with the bowing complex. Peak gusts may reach up to
75-85 mph on an isolated basis.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50
