Welcome to DLC Photography's page! What is DLC you ask? DLC are the initials of my father, the late Darrell Lee Comstock. pretty much whatever!
All throughout my life he taught me to be the best I can be, work hard to achieve your dreams and to never give up. In December of 2008 my father lost his fight to Lung cancer. My photography is my gift to his memory. I am a graduate in Agricultural Communications and Journalism at the great Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. I love taking pictures of people, animals, places, things.. It is

Just about a year ago Tracy and John were going through the worst of the worst when it should have been one of the best weeks of their lives together so far. John received a cancer diagnosis when they should have been doing final preps for their wedding day. With some quick planning and changes everything was shifted to the cancer wing at the hospital instead. It was a beautiful ceremony and special day- but due to the circumstances, they didn’t get many couple portraits I normally get to offer couples on wedding day. I promised them when John was feeling better we would make them happen.
I fully didn’t plan on it needing to be almost a year later- but it timed out to be a wonderful anniversary session.
It was an honor and joy to get to capture them again. I am so thrilled to see them both doing well a year later. What a difference a year makes.
A Kansas City couple session is the perfect way to capture the moments that feel honest and real—whether you’re exploring the Crossroads District, wandering through Loose Park, or cozying up in your favorite KC spot. I focus on storytelling over stiff poses, encouraging natural movement and genuine emotion so your photos feel like you. Kansas City offers so many unique backdrops, and each session is shaped around who you are as a couple and the connection you share.

A visual representation about how life feels lately. Trying to keep the pieces all contained and doing a somewhat poor job at it. 😅
This post postpartum spring has really had its ups and downs. This spring and summer haven’t looked like I thought they would- both good and bad. I find myself almost daily wrestling with God and wondering what the heck He is doing…. Wondering how we’re going to make ends meet and do my part in helping support our family. And yet- somehow we do. God provides. Gives me more challenges. But He also gives blessings. How blessed am I to not be so overwhelmingly busy during Ansel’s first 4 months of life? How blessed that our car that was starting to pile up with repairs be totaled by hail and replaced by a 4 year newer car with a lower car payment? It’s a mystery to me how all these things work out. But they also aren’t mine to know. They aren’t mine to figure out. My challenge over and over again this spring has been, lay down your troubles and trust that God has it in His hands and He will take care of it. So far, so good.

CLASS OF 2027!
Let’s tell your story across two seasons.
Summer has its own kind of magic, and fall brings out a whole different vibe, and I want you to have both.
When you book your full fall senior session, you can add a Summer Heirloom Session for just $150 (normally $250).
A little early booking thank you from me to you.
Summer Heirlooms are perfect for
✨ golden warmth
✨ tall grass + wildflower fields
✨ or that dreamy Kansas wheat glow before harvest
It’s a beautiful way to capture who you are now and who you’re becoming by fall.
I only have a limited number of June Heirloom spots, so once they’re gone, they’re gone.
