Almost ready to post the podcast with David Cindrich.

Remembering Canadian Downhill Heritage Minutes.

Many of you may not remember the Longboard scene in 2010. Heck, Flatspot wasn’t even open yet. Things were still pretty small and everyone knew each other. Camaraderie and stoke were high. Everyone was one big family and loved to gather on forums and at events. But like most families, gatherings could get spicy.

Maryhill, being the special place that it is, drew a crowd from around the world to camp, skate, and compete, including many Canadians. On the hill was mostly fun, but some rivalries had grown and friction between countries brewed teenage tension between the competing riders.

What remains of these World Wars is some of the best lore in downhill. From Canada to California and everywhere else, anyone who was there has a story from their own experience and each one is worth it’s weight in gold.

Ultimately, after this 2010 Maryhill, the scene began to explode. For the next four or five years after, riders of all ages, from around the globe, took up downhill and the industry boomed. Downhill all of a sudden had more mainstream attention and a public eye. Brands flocked to the market, magazines popped up, sponsorships flowed, the event space flooded and the vibe was just a bit different. Not bad, but different.

Change is inevitable. The memories are forever. Enjoy the moment while you have it!
