The Delaney House-A historical & unusual house built in 1845 by Daniel Delaney

Spirit Tea and ghost hunting in a 178-year-old home? Absolutely.

The Delaney House in Turner was built in 1845 by Daniel Delaney, one of the earliest settlers in the Willamette Valley. It’s a two-story white home with a wide front porch and rooms that still hold original woodwork and pieces from the Delaney family. The house has lived through Oregon’s territorial days, statehood, and more than a century of change. It even survived a near demolition before preservationists stepped in to save it. Now it’s part museum, part gathering place, and if you’re lucky…your overnight rental.

We started our evening with Spirit Tea in the dining room. Maggie and Sherrie, two gifted psychics, read each of us as the tea steeped. Maggie’s words about my grandpa and boundaries hit me right in the chest. Sherrie connected to people and stories in the room so vividly that it felt like the house was listening in.

After tea, we toured the gallery upstairs, full of antiques, photographs, and displays about Daniel Delaney’s life and the fateful night in 1865 that put his name in Oregon’s first murder trial. You can still see the bullet holes in the walls.

The ghost hunt was pure fun. My EMF reader lit up on Delaney’s hand-built chair. I sat on his bed and asked, “Mr. Delaney, is that you?” The flashlight blinked yes. We laughed until our cheeks hurt when the “shower ghost” decided to put on a show for the SLS camera.

We ended the night with whiskey and ci**rs on the porch, talking about everything we’d seen and felt. Staying here isn’t just a night in a historic home…it’s being part of its story.

You can book it yourself. Come for the history. Stay for the company. Leave with stories you’ll want to tell again and again. @delaneyhouseinn #wildoregonlore 08/12/2025
