We welcome Louise Jett back to our Society, with her presentation entitled “History is Tired of Repeating Itself.”
06/06/2026
The strength of a diverse society is not measured by how well it serves the majority. It is measured by whether every person can find recognition, support, and belonging.
Recent reports indicate that the Department of Defense has reduced its list of recognized faith and belief categories from more than 200 to 31, removing Humanists, Unitarian Universalists, Pagans, Atheists, and many other minority traditions from the coding system used to identify service members’ religious and philosophical affiliations.
Ethical Humanism teaches that every person has worth and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
A society committed to human dignity makes room for people of many beliefs, people of no religious belief, and those whose convictions do not fit neatly into the majority.
Every person deserves to be seen and supported.
Coming up this Sunday, June 7:
HISTORY IS TIRED OF REPEATING ITSELF
LOUISE JETT, ETHICAL CULTURE LEADER
Marx quipped that history repeats first as tragedy, then as farce. Nietzsche imagined the hypothetical eternal recurrence. But maybe history is simply… tired. What if Humanism is our invitation to stop the reruns and invent the sequel?
Louise Jett (she/her) is an Ethical Humanist, educator, and storyteller who strives to bring curiosity and compassion to everything she does. An American Ethical Union certified Leader, she finds inspiration in people who dedicate themselves to empowering and caring for others. She loves connecting with people and having fun. So, please be sure to say hello before or after Platform!
