Today we honor Juneteenth: a celebration of freedom for the Black community in the United States marking the day the last enslaved people in Texas were notified of their freedom in 1865—two years after the Emancipation Proclamation went into effect.
In honoring Juneteenth, we recognize the work still to be done in combatting racism. We recognize that Black members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community are disproportionately affected by discrimination, inequity, and other issues. We are committed to continue our fight towards true equality for all.
