Throwback alumni update on Marcus (adopted in 2024)! 😻
Marcus is doing great! He has been a very anxious kitty and spends most of his day hiding away, but he is so sweet. Every so often, he will come out and let you know he loves attention and you. Every night, he will stay with me on the end of my bed waiting for me to wake back up. When I leave for work he is relieved of his duty and goes back under the bed to take a nap. Whenever he is in a scary situation, he will crouch down and slink away. His nickname will be “Slink” because he thinks if he slithers along the floor like a snake, no one will see him. He is a great boy.

Thursday is part of a closely related group who came to us after their longtime caretaker passed away. They lived primarily outdoors with limited access to people socialization and are still learning how to feel safe and comfortable around humans. Because of this, they are not typical 'walk up and pet me' shelter cats.
Most of these cats are shy and very cautious with people. Most will hide, avoid touch, or take significant time to build trust. A few do show curiosity and allow very brief touch under very specific circumstances. They rely heavily on one another for comfort and confidence, so they are required to be adopted in pairs.
These cats are looking for patient adopters who understand that progress may be slow and that trust is something earned over time. Watching an under-socialized cat begin to feel safe, explore, play, and connect can be incredibly rewarding, but it requires realistic expectations, patience, and a calm environment.
Because of the unique needs of this group, same-day adoptions are not available, and interested adopters may be asked to speak with additional staff to ensure a good match.

Alumni update on Dragonfly, now BMO! 😻
I’d say Bmo has fully settled in. He’s had some moments where he was a little spooked, such as when we first used a vacuum. He’s also been a little stinker when it comes to trying to eat my food but that’s okay since I've started to feed him his breakfast and dinner when I eat.

Uh oh... Charlie and Cove are not impressed with the offerings they've received so far.
"*Sigh* If only the humans knew what I truly desired," said Cove. "Shall I start calling myself Rapunzel?"
"Truly!," said Charlie, "How can they even begin to understand the gilded cage we live in? I wish to bathe in the sun by my human."
It sounds like Charlie and Cove would trade their gold for a home instead. They turn and look at you skeptically. Will you be the hero of their story? You did come dressed as a knight after all...

Throwback alumni update on Bean (adopted in 2016)! 😻
I have an incredibly happy cat!
Our eyes met across a back room in Feline Rescue in November of 2016. Since then Bean (named by Feline Rescue) became my travel companion and rescuer of many fates. We lived and explored blessings in our less than 80 square feet of Mobile living space for several years.
Bean met other four leggeds from Virginia to Oregon to Mexico and back to Minnesota. She darted out of bed to look at the pack of coyotes out the side door window while I cowered under the blankets in the Arizona desert. She loved bird watching in Oregon and meeting other cats in Yuma and was always confused by chickens. We kept each other company during the long covid lockdown in NM.
She's a beautiful, happy soul. I'm so blessed. I can't thank you all enough for all you do🙏
I've included a few photos of Bean, travel companion extraordinaire.

A fresh empty nester, it's Mrs. Moustache! Mrs. Moustache has been most recently occupied with raising her kittens, but is ready to spread her wings for a new adventure as they leave her careful care. Despite her successful lineage, Mrs. Moustache is still a young kitty with a full bucket list yet to be fulfilled. She loves to play with soft toys and enjoys a good snuggle session very much.
Mrs. Moustache spends a lot of time maintaining her namesake moustache, but prefers to handle her own salon care rather than being brushed at this time. She hopes you can be the right person to help her embark on a new phase of her life's journey, hopefully with a few treats mixed in.
Mrs. Moustache is located at the Feline Rescue shelter. You can find Mrs. Moustache's webpage on the Feline Rescue website https://us10d.sheltermanager.com/service?account=da1619&method=animal_view&animalid=7086&template=animalview
