For one inspiring week each spring, artists from across the nation gather in Southern Utah to celebrate the art of painting outdoors. From the red cliffs of Pioneer Park to the shaded streets of historic downtown, the St. George Plein Air Festival offers endless opportunities to capture light, color, and story directly from life.

This year marks the 5th Annual Festival — and you’re invited to be part of it.

Festival Itinerary UPDATE!

Please note a small update to the Tuesday, April 7 schedule for the St. George Plein Air Festival.

The 1–2 PM Plein Air Talk will now be presented by Steve Stauffer, the same artist hosting our pre-festival workshop, instead of Roland Lee.

We’re excited to have Steve share his insights and approach during this talk, offering continuity for artists participating in both the workshop and the festival week.

April 3–4, 2026, St. George. A focused, small-class plein air intensive with easel-side coaching, clear demos, and personal feedback. Learn to simplify shapes, nail value structure, and use temperature to describe desert light. Only 9 spots remain, separate registration required.

Last year's Dinner On Main was an absolute hit. Don't miss out this year! Thursday, September 18th 5-9pm. Main Street vehicle traffic will be closed down for the event and there will be a pop-up art exhibit, live music and even live painting. Even if you don't get tickets for the catered dinner the rest of the event is free to the public.
