I guess I couldnāt see myself until now. Until I fell deeply into the gaze of her light and realized it was my own. Me calling myself home. How long I wandered and waited, doubted and stated. To think there was ever a time I thought I knew who I was and what I wanted? I laugh at her with pity and I hold her close with warmth. Sheās just a child who needs more guidance, guidance from her inner soul. Reckless moves born from sightless eyes, but it was never her fault she was given so much weight before her muscles developed. I admire her spark, still glowing as ever. She never let it dim, never burned down to embers. She scattered at times, thought maybe sheād die, but she always stood back up and kept on with her cry. Now here she stands, eye to eye with the sky, knowing absolutely nothing and finally truly becoming.

The trees know
They know something I donāt. They whisper with the wind as they look down at me. What is it they know? They stand so close to the sky reaching for the sun and so far down below me. They have to know what this all is that Iām so desperate to know. Would they tell me if I asked? If I stood close by, held their gaze, thanked them for their shade and all their oxygen; would they tell me then? I put my ear to their bark and wait for a sign, but all that I can understand is how beautiful they think I am.
Is that what they know that I donāt know?

āI See Youā Moon rise over El Morro National Monument in New Mexico. Seeing this in my hallway everyday makes me not want to sell it. Maybe I wonāt. Weāll see.
Next in my series and upcoming show, āI forgot the sky, but she remembers meā on April 11 at Pioneer Park in St. George, Utah at the Pavilion- the one to the right of Dixie Rock if youāre facing it.
Each photograph has a corresponding plein air and encaustic along with a poetic write up. See the whole series on April 11!

To see yourself in natureās sky is what this piece delivers. The last of the Paria, Utah pieces this one is mixed media, Encaustic with broken mirror shattered by the wind. I often think of the wind as the skyās voice and so the pieces of this mirror felt so fitting to finish the set.

Seeing this on my kitchen wall in the morning reminds me to slowdown and take a breath before I jump into the madness of the day.
Plein air of our first stop on our Southwest road trip in Paria, Utah. All of my plein air pieces from this trip contain a line of poetry, or a lyric, that came to me while drawing. For me, as part of my Synesthesia, words, music, color, shape, and movement all come together to create one super experience. Sometimes this can make drawing hard as I have to tune out some of it to focus on just one element to capture, but every now and then I let some more slip through.

The first of a series Iāve been working on since November, 2025. Thereās something about printing a photograph of the expansive sky in such a small format that makes me want to dive into it and put it on the first wall you see when you enter my home. Imagine be greeted by this everyday.
On a trip through the Southwest I wanted to know what would happen if I let the sky talk to me and direct my attention and art with each place we parked our RV. The result has been everything I imagined and more. The sky has so much to teach us if we can slow down enough to listen.
I began with a photograph of each location, then a plein air using acrylic paint markers and my sketchbook, and then upon returning home, I created an Encaustic piece of each photograph and plein air capturing the emotion I experienced at each location. Iām in love with this series and so excited to begin sharing it with you.

I watched the state of the union and I regret it. Itās making me feel like a chimpanzee thatās been kidnapped and forced into a study on the effects of L*D on mammal brains and my dose is way too high.
The conclusion? L*D is bad for monkeys.

Iāve been through many bouts of Ontological Shock and come through finding some footing and support. Every time I made it through it was because a group of people who understood what was happening to me helped me through. Donāt do it alone.

Using my writing, art, and subconscious world connections to teach people how to understand themselves and rewire is my cause. Reprogramming after years of bu****it is a worthy way to help and Iām equipped to do exactly that.
