As our nation approaches its 250th year, the history of struggles and successes of all must be recognized. Today, and every day, we honor the strength of African Americans and Black people within our nation's history.
While the Emancipation Proclamation to end slavery in the US was signed on January 1, 1863 by President Lincoln, it wasn't until June 19, 1865, that it was finally enforced in the last remaining state of Texas.

Foster care is challenging for all youth, but even more so for LGBTQ+ youth, with 3x greater odds of reporting a past-year su***de attempt compared to peers not in foster care. Let's spread understanding, support and love.🧡 🏳️🌈

🎉 Our Opportunity Fund supports youth during tough times, and it just grew thanks to a Community Grant from the Rotary Club of Arden Arcade! 👏 This grant will purchase grocery and gas gift cards, ensuring youth from foster care have transportation to school or work, daily nutrition and essential items.
We're honored to meet such needs, allowing youth to focus on personal growth, education and long-term goals when jobs are unstable or emergencies arise.
This video of mentees and mentors says exactly what we feel after last week's Big Day of Giving! 💚
Special thanks to Nugget Markets, Brent Gove, and Friends of Aging UP for matching a combined total of $13K! Because of this generosity, gifts were doubled, and we raised nearly $30K to empower youth from foster care! 👏
