LightObject
Precision lasers, local support. CO₂ & fiber laser cutting and engraving for shops, makers, and manufacturers.
LightObject is a retailer for laser machines and laser machine accessories. Laser machines include Fiber Optics and CO2 Laser machines that can cut and engrave on various materials. In addition to laser machine parts, we also carry a wide selection of electronics components.
Spent two days in Texas to help the customer “Metal Zinc” fix two fiber laser metal cutters. One system failed to make proper capacitance calibration. The problem with the other one was overheating of the laser tip.
After the problems were fixed, I helped calibrate the cutting parameters and made them more effective by reducing cutting power by 45%.
The one that failed to complete calibration was due to a faulty ceramic ring. It worked sometimes, and that makes it harder to troubleshoot.
The other one with an overheating issue was because of a burned laser lens; the top one inside the laser head.
Overall, the cutting parameters were poorly tuned, and the cutting quality was poor. The customer was so happy to have me there to help them fix the machine

What did I do during my last trip to China?
Well, 90% for fun and 10% for business.
After a year of hard work, I need a break to relieve stress and pressure.
The fun part is enjoying so many delicious foods from restaurants and learning how to drift. With four hours of training, I was almost, yes, almost, able to make a complete “8” drifting 😅
For the business part, I checked out a couple of companies that make a brake press and a laser machine with 6000W power, fully enclosed, and with an exchange bed.
I really enjoyed the trip very much, and I was hoping I could stay longer there!

I just came back from Hong Kong a couple of days ago, and now I am heading to Houston, Texas!
An urgent call from a customer whose 1500W system is down. Production is down, so here I am😎

I am taking a trip to China, half for touring and half for business. One of the stops was to visit a friend who taught me how to repair a fiber laser source with the top-of-the-line splicer, the Fujikura FSM-100MP+. It cost over $65k, and a fiber string cutter cost over $10k. The upfront cost stopped me from providing fiber laser source repair services in the state.
Another obstacle is that it is extremely difficult to find parts for the repair. It is not cost-effective to repair a laser source with a power of 3000W or lower. Unless the customer knows how to unmount and remount the laser source, a two-trip on-site service is required, and it is costly and time-consuming.

You can't have a fiber laser cutter without its partner—a brake press!
A customer who recently bought a 3000W fiber laser from us also needs a brake press for 7mm (5/16") steel. So I'm searching for one while I'm in China.
I found this full digital brake press featuring the Delem 66S control system. It comes with a 4+1 axis configuration (Y1, Y2, X, R, plus crowning), which can be upgraded to 6+1 (adding Z1 and Z2) for a little more.
The frame is constructed with 2.5” steel. It weighs about 13 tons. The opening size is 10ft

If you need an air compressor for your fiber laser, but you don't have 3-phase power, what can you do? Before, you may consider a phase converter. But it is costly and usually won't last very long.
We have a solution for you!
A 1.5MPa output, single-phase VFD screw compressor is available from us
The cost of using an Air compressor is much lower than that of nitrogen for fiber laser cutting. It cuts 4-5 times faster than oxygen or nitrogen.
You may not know that a full K tank of nitrogen can last about 23 minutes without stopping, cutting stainless steel. A full T tank costs roughly $45. Overall, the operation cost per hour is $135/hour. But a 10 HP air compressor costs roughly 7 kWh. On average, it costs about $3-$4 per hour. Did I do the math right?! 😱
In general, nitrogen is used as a gas for stainless steel and aluminum laser cutting. But with higher-pressure air (75% nitrogen + 15% oxygen), a fiber laser can cut 3-5 times faster. The only drawback is that cutting with air will leaves a darker cutting edge, while nitrogen leaves a silver color.
