Every year, schools with the greatest need ask for 916 Ink programs — and too often, they cannot afford them. That means hundreds of students miss the chance to tell their stories, build confidence, and experience the joy of creative expression.

One 916 Ink staff member, Christina Nelson, Read On! program manager, gave AF in 2014 when she served as an AmeriCorps member with Reading Partners.

“Service year changed the trajectory of my career and my life.”

Rather than going into the traditional classroom, Christina decided to join the non-profit world and focus on one-on-one tutoring and reading literacy! As a result, since 2020, Read On! has become a staple at 916 Ink as we offer operations at local schools to ensure that students can reach their reading level and beyond!
