Our recent EGE Out! field trip to the Oakland Redwoods was more than a day in natureโit was an opportunity for youth to connect with the outdoors, explore one of California's majestic forest ecosystems, and see themselves as part of the next generation of environmental leaders.
Black Conservation Week reminds us that Black people have always had a deep relationship with the land. From conservationists and scientists to farmers, naturalists, and community advocates, Black voices have shaped the environmental movement for generations.
At EGE Foundation, we believe access to nature should be for everyone. Through experiences like this, we're helping youth build confidence outdoors, deepen their connection to the environment, and discover pathways to leadership, conservation, and stewardship.
Because representation matters. Access matters. And every young person deserves the opportunity to experience the joy, healing, and wonder that nature provides.
๐ฟโ๐พ Happy Black Conservation Week!

In February 2026, I had the opportunity to experience Uganda's incredible Murchison Falls Safari with @๐ฎ๐๐ด๐๐๐๐๐ผ๐๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐ณ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐โand it exceeded every expectation.
From standing at the top of the powerful Murchison Falls to seeing wildlife in their natural habitat and exploring the beauty of Uganda's landscapes, every moment was unforgettable. What impressed me most wasn't just the destinations, but the professionalism, hospitality, and care provided throughout the journey by the August Voyage Safaris team.
As someone who travels with purpose, I value authentic experiences, cultural connection, safety, and knowledgeable guides. August Voyage Safaris delivered on all of it.
This experience helped shape the vision for what comes next...

These moments are shaping the next generation of environmental leaders. Through EGE Out!, our youth are learning through hands on exploration, interactive curriculum, and real world experiences that connect STEAM education, environmental stewardship, leadership, and global opportunity.
Todayโs youth are tomorrowโs scientists, educators, conservationists, farmers, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and changemakers.
At EGE Foundation, we are creating a pipeline for equity in STEAM education, career pathways, and outdoor access for BIPOC youth, from early learning to leadership and global experiences.
Ten years from now, we envision EGE youth leading in communities across the world and it starts with opportunities like this.
Today is Big Day of Giving, and we need your support to continue building this future.

Today, EGE Foundation was honored to receive a Non-profits of Distinction Award from the City of Sacramento, Mayor Kevin McCarty, recognized for our work in the community and contributions to Sacramento.
As the Founder, this is a proud moment beyond measure. This vision is obedience in action. I am humbled.
This is what innovation looks like. ๐ฑ
Our youth didnโt just learn about agriculture, they stepped into it. From exploring specialty crops to designing their own agribusiness brands, complete with labels and business cards, theyโre beginning to see what it means to be part of a system that supports healthy living and community sustainability.
At EGE Foundation, weโre turning classroom learning into real world application. Weโre building toward a full agriculture curriculum that expands opportunities for youth and families across the communities we serve.
This is how we plant seeds today for the fruit of tomorrow.
We are creating a pipeline for equity in STEAM education, career pathways, and outdoor access for BIPOC youth, from early learning to leadership and global experiences.
Your support helps us continue this work. Join us this Big Day of Giving.

They say you donโt always choose your pathโsometimes, it chooses you.
For a long time, I thought my journey into forestry was just my own. As a Sacramento native, Sac High Alum and first-gen college grad, I headed up to Humboldt State University to earn my Bachelorโs and Masterโs in Natural Resource Management. I was surrounded by the redwoods, falling in love with the timber and the industry, not realizing I was walking a path already cleared for me generations ago.
It wasn't until later that I uncovered the depth of my own familyโs history in the Timber Harvest Industry across Mississippi and Arkansas. Before I even knew the stories of the Black men and women in my lineage who worked those lands, I was already studying the same trees and the same science.
Discovering that connection felt like a "virtuous assignment." It was destiny.
I returned home to Sacramento with a clear mission: to ensure that Black and brown people are no longer excluded from these spaces or these careers. Representation mattersโnot just in the outdoors, but in the leadership and the workforce that manages our natural resources.
That is why our "Youth Journey" leadership pipeline is so vital. Itโs how we honor this history. We are building a movement where our youth donโt just visit the woods; they lead the industries that protect them. From our Little EGE Dreamers to our paid fellowships, we are creating a direct line to green careers and economic power.
This is mission. And today, weโre asking you to join us in making it a reality.
