REMINDER: The last day of school is this Wednesday, June 17th, and it is an early release!

S**o Middle School 8th Grade Promotion will be held on Tuesday June 16 at 6 pm in the Miles Field House at Thornton Academy. We look forward to celebrating with you!

As we near the end of the school year, Field Day provided a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate their hard work, create lasting memories, and enjoy time together outside the classroom. While the day is certainly about having fun, it is also about teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, and building connections with one another.

A huge thank you goes out to our incredible S**o Middle School staff for their hard work and flexibility in supporting students during a day that looks very different from a typical school day. From creating themed groups, illustrating Lemonade stand signs, making tee-shirts, arriving early to help set up events, supervising activities throughout the day, setting up microphones and music, providing band-aids, taking drone photos, delivering full The Home Depot buckets of water across campus, and ensuring everything ran smoothly, their commitment to our students is so appreciated.

We would also like to sincerely thank our S**o Middle School PTO for their continued partnership and support. With the heat and humidity, the beverages and delicious snacks were greatly appreciated and helped make the day even more special. In addition S**o Parks & Recreation Department for assisting with set-up, especially the bounce house!

And of course, a special shoutout to those highly competitive staff members who bravely volunteered to take on some of our 8th graders in the Lemonade Stand Showdown to close out the day. You not only did a great job competing, but demonstrated impressive active listening skills, as one staff member put it, to way too many directions!

Thank you to everyone who helped make Field Day such a positive experience. School is not only about learning academics. It's about building community, strengthening relationships, and creating positive memories that students will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

A Fitting Field Trip for Team Sebago!

Sebago Lake offered the perfect setting for our 7th & 8th grade Sebago students to enjoy the sunny weather and great outdoors! Students spent the day swimming, fishing, playing games, relaxing with friends, and making the most of some well-earned time together as the school year winds down. It was a great opportunity to connect and enjoy time with classmates and teachers outside the classroom.

A special thank you to our teachers and staff for organizing the trip and helping create meaningful end-of-year experiences for our students. Events like these provide students with opportunities to strengthen friendships, celebrate a successful year, and make lasting memories before summer begins.

Our S**o Middle School students and staff enjoyed a beautiful day at the ballpark on Thursday cheering on the Portland Sea Dogs, spending time with friends, enjoying concessions, meeting Slugger, and of course, indulging in the iconic Sea Dog Biscuit! The combination of great weather and good baseball made for a memorable experience for everyone involved.

A special thank you goes out to our staff for everything they did to make the day a success. From ordering tickets and coordinating transportation, to supervising students, serving pizza, collecting trash, providing Band-Aids for cuts and scrapes, offering quiet spaces for students who needed a break, and stepping in wherever help was needed, your flexibility, patience, and dedication is so greatly appreciated!

One of S**o Middle School's favorite traditions returned, bringing together students, families, staff, and community members for an evening of outstanding music and community spirit. Guests spread out blankets and lawn chairs, enjoyed snacks, brought along their pets, and settled in for performances by our Band, Jazz Band, and Orchestra students.

The program featured an exciting mix of pop and rock favorites, including Love Shack, Man in the Mirror, Thriller, Enter Sandman, and Carry On My Wayward Son. Our student musicians did an incredible job, showcasing the hard work, dedication, and talent they've developed throughout the year.

Events like Picnic at the Pops are a reminder of what makes our school community so special—a chance to come together, enjoy a beautiful evening, and celebrate our students. A special thank you to Ms. Wise and Ms. Hoag for their dedication and leadership in guiding these incredible musicians throughout the year. Their passion and commitment help make evenings like this possible.
