The Leonard Middle School Symphonic Band in Old Town, Maine, recently performed a piece titled 'Me', by Randall Standridge, chosen for its powerful anti-bullying message. During the performance, students held up signs declaring personal traits or bullying experiences of their own. Among these students was 8th grade trombone player, Jackson McPherson, who displayed a sign saying, 'I Have a Stutter'.
Band Director Shianne Priest shared composer Standridge's personal story of overcoming bullying, emphasizing the importance of self-love. The performance allowed students to share their own struggles and connect with others who have faced similar challenges. Through music and personal expression, the band spreads a message of understanding and acceptance.

RE: Shelter in Place-Lewiston Mass Shootings
All of us at Crossroads Youth Center send our condolences, thoughts, and prayers to the people of Lewiston in the wake of this tragic mass shooting.
Once again, our country has faced yet another senseless mass shooting, this time in our own home state of Maine, where we at Crossroads have lobbied for safe schools and communities since 2006.
As Governor Janet Mills has stated, we, too, urge all people to follow the direction of State and local law enforcement to shelter in place.
Due to these events and to keep all our members safe, Crossroads is canceling any and all programs until the perpetrator is apprehended and the Maine State government has cleared us to return to normal activity.
