Thanks Chloe Mitchell Garrison for sending us your journey with Gemstone! It’s so great to hear from our former adopters and see all they have accomplished!
I was fortunate to reconnect with Joy in August 2024 — perfect timing, right as we were preparing to move into our new home with land for our horses.
Gemstone (Gem) had joined the REIN family not long before our reconnection, and at just 3 years old, he'd already been through a lot. Joy invited me up to meet him, and as soon as I did, I could tell there was something special about him. Despite everything he'd experienced, he was curious, kind, and had an energy that said "I'm a really good friend."
I brought him home in early November 2024, and his light has only grown since. We've taken our time getting to know each other, building trust, and forming a connection that will lead to a lifetime of adventures together. He's playful and expressive in all the best ways, and he's been a phenomenal teacher — both on my journey with horses and as a person.
I'm so grateful for the reconnection with Joy and the introduction to Gem. REIN does incredible, impactful work, and anyone would be lucky to experience it — whether through their training, clinics, or adoption program.

So thrilled to partner with REIN Rescue 🌟
We share a passion for Mustang advocacy.
Mustangs are one of the most versatile breeds.
These horses are given a chance because of REIN 🩵
We posted our adoptable 3 yr old Mustang mare, Leia, yesterday and she had a new experience today. He’s a great example of how REIN Rescue likes our youngsters to problem solve.

Here’s Leia, another gorgeous 3 yr old mustang mare. She has been gentled, but not started under saddle yet.
If you would like more information on Leah or any of the other adoptable horses we have at REIN Rescue please pm.

I wanted to share what we had gotten about Devon from Allison Rhyne.
Allison met Devon shortly after she arrived at REIN. Within a couple of months, she chose to sponsor the bay roan filly and finally made the adoption decision when she realized she couldn't bear to let Devon go to anyone else. Devon was boarded at REIN and Allison learned about feral horses from REIN staff and visiting clinicians like Bruce Anderson, Julia Carpenter and Rick Millweard. Lots of ground work was key to learning about each other. In July of 2025 Devon left REIN for 60 days with trainer Miranda Rawson. Since then she has been happily living at Squirrels Nest Farm in Forest City with Allison's other horse. She turned 3 years old in early spring and is in steady work now. Her good looks and fantastic brain make for a great partnership. Devon and Allison have a bond that is rare and treasured.

In January 2025 I, recently retired, started volunteering at REIN. I met Fedora, who was a feisty, opinionated (and bored) two year old desperately needing a job and a person. We started doing groundwork and lunging and after a few conversations about who was in charge and how things should be done, Fedora adopted me. I didn’t want another horse, didn’t want a filly, didn’t want a Dutch Harness/Standardbred but a couple of months later Fedora moved to Aintree. She had her person, her herd and her forever home.
We are taking it slow and letting her grow physically and mentally. She works almost daily, sometimes groundwork, some riding, I pony her around our trails. Fedora has been on trips to FENCE and REIN and will be getting out a lot more this summer. Fedora is adored by our three geldings, and while she is still opinionated and strong willed she has lost the fight and defensiveness she initially had due to Amish and kill pen trauma.
What does the future hold? Fedora can do anything, she is brave, spirited, a lovely mover and loves to jump. She loves people and wants to do stuff. She is about 16hh with a back like a table, she has become a big girl. Her initial training and foundation provided by REIN set her up to be a great partner and l am excited about our journey. Thank you REIN Rescue for saving her!

Here’s another of our adoption success stories.
I adopted Cody from Rein Rescue 2 years ago he was 6 years old and he didn’t trust anyone. I was looking for a companion for my other horse. I knew an already made horse was going to be out of my price range and I was looking for an all around easy going horse, that would be a good companion as well as a good riding horse. Cody was very afraid of people and we were not sure if he was broke to ride but he was adorable and he was in my price range so I decided to take a chance on him. I’m so glad I did. He is exactly what I was looking for. He is 8 now and he trail rides and is learning to jump and he has so much personality. Many thanks to Rein for all they do.

One of out adopters sent this in about her REIN Rescue horse.
I adopted Emilio now named Sonny in the fall of 2024. He was estimated to be around 2 yrs old. Joy has the feral horses complete a 6 week basic program so Sonny came to us easy to handle. He was able to lead and stand for the farrier etc. Since Joy is a veterinarian the horses are properly vetted and cared for and even have body work done if needed. Sonny recently went for training to get more advanced groundwork and to lightly start under saddle. He has a good mind and is doing really well in training.

Today was a good day at REIN Rescue with the Two Step Way Clinic with Julia Carpenter. Both participants and auditors learned a lot. Julia has some really effective ways to help us be present with our horses.
