56-Engine 2 with 5 members, are currently providing house coverage for Belleville Fire Department along with other Bergen County companies overnight, while BFD continues to extinguish the large multi alarm fire from Sunday.

Today, May 5th at approximately 7:30AM the Rutherford Fire Department responded to 1 Orient Way for a reported vehicle versus a building. Chief 56-3 arrived on scene, confirming a vehicle struck the building with damage. Companies later arrived and checked the area for further hazard and operated for approximately one hour.

Engine Company 4 is currently operating in the Town of Belleville at a multiple alarm fire, supplying a Nutley ladder as a part of a task force with Bergen County Battalion 5.

This afternoon, Tuesday April 28th at approximately 15:44 hours. The Rutherford Fire Department was dispatched to the area of 67 Kip for a reported garage fire. Chief 56-5 arrived minutes later and confirmed a row of garages on fire in the rear of 67 Kip, and transmitted the second alarm assignment, bringing a RIC team and other 5th battalion companies to the scene.

Companies operated two(2) inch and three quarter hand-lines, knocking down the fire and keeping it to the end garage units. Wallington Rescue 204, Engine 202, and East Rutherford Truck 1 also responded to the scene.

Simultaneously, Lyndhurst Engine 3 along with Carlstadt Engine 2 responded to a fire alarm activation at 801 Rutherford Avenue, and then provided coverage with North Arlington Rescue 3 and Passaic Engine 2.

There were no reported injuries.

Last Wednesday, April 22nd. Rutherford Volunteer Fire Department companies traveled to the Bergenfield Fire Training Center in Bergenfield NJ, for live fire training. Members worked on hose stretches, fire attack, search, ladder work, and much more.
