Ferrell Foundation
Focused on raising money to support cancer research in addition to helping patients and caregivers. The fight against cancer is no different.
Fighting is a skill we develop when dealing with adverse situations. Sometimes we choose to fight and other times we are forced to. The Ferrell Foundation is focused on raising both money and awareness for the fight against cancer. Cancer directly affects the world in which we live today. Our prayer is to make living with cancer easier for those already affected by this disease and prevent it from

We were on the phone all day yesterday talking to members of Congress why this funding is so important. These cuts will have a significant impact on cancer research. We will continue fighting on behalf of all those affected by cancer.
Last night the House voted to cut 57% of federally funded medical and cancer research through the Department of Defense's Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP). Currently, the CDMRP funds $50 million in kidney cancer research annually.
“Yesterday the House voted to cut by 57% medical research funded by the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP), which seeks to improve the health and quality of life of the men and women who serve in the U.S. Armed Services, as well as their families, veterans and military retirees,” said Mark Vieth, Senior VP at CRD Associates and coordinator for the Defense Health Research Consortium, of which KCA is a member. “Since the program was founded in 1992, it has never been cut this severely. This was the worst vote in the history of CDMRP! March 11, 2025 will now be remembered as the “Pearl Harbor Day” for CDMRP.”
According to the CDMRP, if the CR becomes law, they would reduce programs by equal proportions to meet the reduced budget of $650 million. They would plan to proceed in the most fiscally responsible way to minimize management costs and maximize dollars for research programs, and additional program-level information for fiscal year 2025 will be communicated as soon as possible.
The CR goes to senate on Friday for a vote and, if passed, to the President’s office to be signed into law.
The KCA continues to advocate on your behalf to our contacts on the senate floor.

Great week last week advocating alongside the American Urological Association. Physicians and patients joined forces to meet with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to advocate about important issues for patients and their care providers. Areas of focus were:
Reining in prior authorization of medications and treatment, a barrier to care
Drug shortages, a costly problem that puts patient safety at risk
Medicare physician payment reform
Expanding the physician workforce and preventing burnout
We made progress but there is more work to be done!
Our co-founder is currently in Washington, D.C. advocating for the American Urology Association on key issues such as patient rights, drug shortages, physician shortages, and Medicare coverage. We express our gratitude to John for his unwavering commitment to helping those affected by cancer.
