Girls rugby in Roswell: no tryouts, no cuts, and a college pathway that already exists twenty minutes away.

Every parent asks the same question eventually. Where does this actually lead?

So here is the straight answer.

🏉 Rugby needs every body type on the field at the same time. Tall, small, fast, strong, brand new to sport. Positions are built around difference, so difference is an advantage.

🎓 She can keep playing without leaving Georgia. Women's college sides at Life University in Marietta, Kennesaw State, Georgia Tech, UGA, University of North Georgia and Georgia College & State, plus Georgia Southern and Valdosta State further south. Women's rugby has been an NCAA Emerging Sport for more than twenty years and a number of NIRA programs offer athletics based aid.

🌍 Rugby Sevens returns at the LA Olympics in 2028. The United States hosts the Men's Rugby World Cup in 2031 and the Women's in 2033. She is starting early, not late.

🛡️ Technique comes first. New players learn contact progressively. Recognize and Remove: if in doubt, sit them out.

Two seasons, one club. Fall Sevens August to December, Spring Fifteens January to April. Play one or play both.

The USA Women’s Falcons (USA national team development squad) take on Life University at Lupo Family Field in Marietta. Life are the reigning national champs, and several of their players are on the USA squad for this one, which tells you everything about where that pathway leads. This is the first time a USA side has played a collegiate team like this, and it’s happening in our backyard before the Falcons fly to Brazil. Tickets: usa.rugby/tickets. Georgia, this one is open to everybody. 💚

We are hosting the USA Rugby Level 1 Coach Course at Roswell Area Park on Saturday, August 29. It is currently the only Level 1 course confirmed on the USA Rugby calendar in Georgia.

You do not need to have played. USA Rugby’s own course description says the room is normally a mix of veteran coaches and people brand new to the game, and that everyone benefits from the mix.

✅ One full day, 8:30 to 5:00. You leave qualified.
✅ Zero experience required.
✅ World Rugby Level 1, recognized internationally.
✅ Required to coach contact rugby. Every club needs at least one.
✅ $125, reimbursed by Georgia SYRO once you certify and take up an active coaching role. Ask us about eligibility.
✅ Age 17 and up, so seniors and alumni count.

Any club, any school, any parent. Twenty seats, and there is short online pre-work to finish first, so register by August 22.
