State laws say to "Stop and Stay" for school buses.

While school's in session, keep an eye out for school buses, children waiting alongside a road, or loading or unloading into buses. A school bus will flash its lights from yellow to red and then extend the stop arm before allowing children on or off. Stop arm laws state that it's illegal to pass a bus that's flashing its lights. Drivers must stop and stay until the bus withdraws the stop arm and begins moving. Learn more about School Bus Safety.

April showers bring May mowers to Missouri right of way.

oDOT mows about 500,000 acres of grass each year, equal to 380,000 football fields. Starting in May, drivers should be on the lookout for slow-moving trucks and tractors with flashing lights indicating mowing operations ahead. Be prepared to stop or slow down behind a mower's "follow" truck, especially on rural routes, and obey no-passing zones. You can Report a Road Concern for grass and weeds blocking visibility along state roads.
