When was the last time you actually read your own job description?
Not to approve it. Not to tweak a bullet point. But to read it the way a candidate would — with fresh eyes and no context about your company or your culture.
When is the last time you did that? 👀
Here's what the research tells us: more than half of job seekers say the quality of a job description directly influences whether they decide to apply.
That's not a talent shortage problem. That might be a job description problem.

Mary Hatchett served her country. When it was time for the next chapter, she knew she wanted to stay connected to public safety — she just needed the right support to get there.
Through the Columbia Job Center and the Jobs for Veterans State Grant program, Mary worked with a DVOP specialist to build a plan, sharpen her resume, and start showing up — job fairs, hiring events, Walk-In Wednesdays. When the Missouri Department of Corrections held a hiring event at the Job Center in December, she was ready.
In January 2026, Mary started her new role as a Correctional Officer in Boonville. Her military background, criminal justice degree, and persistence all pointed to this moment.
