The California Highway Patrol, Santa Rosa Area is dedicated to providing safety, service and security to the people of Sonoma County.

The Santa Rosa Area of the California Highway Patrol has the privilage of patroling over 1400 miles of roadway in Sonoma County, one of the largest areas in the state. The CHP office in Rohnert Park covers all of Sonoma County with the exception of the Sonoma Valley, which is covered by the Napa Area office. Our officers work closely with local law enforcement and first responders to provide indespensible services to our communities.

As Turkey 🇹🇷 and Paraguay 🇵🇾 faced off in Santa Clara yesterday, June 19, CHP personnel remained focused on ensuring the safety of everyone around.

Fatal Crash on Lakeville Road Under Investigation

On June 19, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., CHP Santa Rosa Area personnel responded to a crash on Lakeville Road at Cannon Lane.

Preliminary investigation indicates a Toyota Prius was traveling southbound on Lakeville Road when it attempted an illegal pass on the right of a Toyota Camry. During the maneuver, the two vehicles crashed. The Prius then left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and overturned.

The driver of the Prius sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash caused power lines to fall, igniting a small brush fire that was quickly extinguished.

The Petaluma Police Department is investigating a carjacking incident involving the Prius that occurred earlier in the day.

The driver of the Toyota Camry was not injured.

This crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information can call the Santa Rosa CHP Office at 707-806-5600. Any inquiries about the deceased should be directed to the Sonoma County Sheriff Coroner’s office.

As fans filled the stadium and brought incredible energy throughout the day, CHP personnel worked alongside our partner agencies to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone attending the event.

The first FIFA World Cup match in the Bay Area is behind us, but we know it’s not time to rest yet. We’ll be back on Tuesday as Austria 🇦🇹 and Jordan 🇯🇴 face off in Santa Clara.

A big thank you to our Valley Division Special Response Team (SRT) personnel who made the trip down to help us accomplish our mission of keeping everyone safe throughout the day! Another thank you to the fans and passerby’s that stopped to say hi to our people, take photos, and share some of that incredible team spirit!

With the World Cup matches kicking off here in the Bay Area tomorrow and continuing through July 1st, the California Highway Patrol is ready to help keep residents and visitors safe.

DUI Crash in Petaluma Causes Major Injuries

On June 6, 2026, at approximately 1:13 p.m., CHP officers responded to a reported rollover crash on southbound US-101 north of East Washington Street.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a GMC Acadia was traveling at a high rate of speed when she collided with a big rig. The GMC subsequently lost control, struck another vehicle, and rolled over several times.

Two occupants of the GMC, including the driver, were ejected from the vehicle. All injured parties were transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The driver, a 19-year-old female from Petaluma, was determined to be driving under the influence and was placed under arrest.

One adult male passenger remains hospitalized in critical condition. A 15-year-old passenger was treated and released from the hospital.

4-Vehicle Fatal Crash on US-101 in Santa Rosa

On June 3, 2026, at approximately 7:55 a.m., officers from the Santa Rosa Area California Highway Patrol responded to a reported four-vehicle crash on northbound US-101, south of SR-12. Initial reports indicated multiple lanes were blocked.

Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on scene and discovered one party had sustained major injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates a Hyundai Sonata was traveling northbound on US-101 in the middle lane when traffic slowed ahead. The front of the Hyundai Sonata collided with the rear of a Ford Escape. Traveling behind the Hyundai was a Chevrolet 5500 utility truck, which then collided with the rear of the Hyundai. The impact pushed both the Hyundai Sonata and Ford Escape forward, causing the right side of the Ford Escape to collide with the left side of a Hyundai Santa Fe traveling in the right lane.

The driver of the Hyundai Sonata sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. No injuries were reported by the other drivers.

This crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this crash is encouraged to contact the Santa Rosa Area CHP office at (707) 806-5600.

Any inquiries regarding the identity of the deceased should be directed to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office.
