What do you do after the kids are finally asleep on Christmas Eve, and your mind won’t slow down enough to rest? You sit with the thoughts. You try to give them shape. You turn them into something that means something.

After writing Half The House for my daughter, I knew I needed to write something for my son too. Carry The Name is a song about legacy, what a father gives his son long before he’s gone.

I wrote this as a roadmap for the man I hope my son becomes. A reminder that a family name isn’t just something you inherit, it’s something you live up to, carry forward, and ultimately redefine in your own way.

It’s about the lessons passed down from father to son.
Strength without hardness.
Guidance without control.
Loving your child enough to prepare them for a world you won’t always be there to protect them from.

If you’re a father, a son, or someone who had to learn life the hard way, this one’s for you.

Half The House (Bella’s Song) is out now.

I wrote these lyrics from a place I never wanted to visit, but one I found myself in anyway. A place where my little girl is asking questions I don’t always have answers for. Where I’m trying to explain to her that life can be messy, and sometimes even the people who love you most don’t get to keep everything together.

After the words were written, I turned to Suno to help bring the music to life. I created five different versions of the song using different prompts, then pulled pieces from each, stitching together the stems until the track felt complete. I didn’t choose what sounded the best. I chose what felt the most honest.

Bella is the heart of this song. It’s about what she carries, and what she never should have had to. One day, she’ll understand that none of this was her fault. This song is for a little girl who deserved better than half of anything.

This song is raw. But real usually is.

So the other night I was asked to take some official headshots for the non-profit board I serve on focused on veteran, first, and last responders mental and physical health. Things got a little out of hand…
