Thanks Ashley! The Pit Crew at Fletcher Toyota in Joplin killed it again, in less than an hour. I noticed I needed my oil changed so called 40 minutes out from Joplin & Ashley said she could get me right in-&-out, in an hour. If I gave her an additional hour she could do a free Toyota recall. While relaxing (Chic-fil-A is in the parking lot 50 yards away) I’m just finishing lunch and Ashley calls & says they are done! Less than $60 for full synthetic oil change plus some free Toyota recall items, all in 35 minutes! Looking forward to 1) Fletcher or 2) Chic-Fil-A opening up their kids’ playgrounds soon so a busy Mom can also enjoy the most wonderful Toyota dealership service department ever! Thanks again Ashley!

Correct weight distribution of a “mid-engine car”, but on a “2 post lift”, is very HARD to get used to if you’ve worked with front engine cars forever. Here’s a pic of the #1 reason most collectors/hobbyists wisely opt for a 4 post lift. I hate to say this but other mid-engine brand owners are not new to pulling waaayyy forward on 2 post lifts. However, for decades, us GM folks have just been pulling our GM stuff between the columns and we are good! I fear mass production C8’s will start to be the primary feature in this scene, A LOT. The “C8/2 Post Lift” learning curve is going to be painful.

Very frustrating experience made me try an awesome new place (I’m definitely buying my next Toyota here too)! Beginning my hurried trip to my destination, 1/2 an hour South of Kansas City, I leave Rogers, Arkansas at daybreak & head toward the local Toyota dealership a few minutes away. Since the synthetic oil service interval on my Toyota Avalon Hybrid is every 10,000 miles & obviously very infrequent, when it’s time to spend the $47.67, I get it done. However, (oh no) the local Toyota dealership cannot fit me in for almost an entire week. Hmm... so if I continue onward to drive there and wait in the lobby as a “walk-in”, they tell me it’s at least a half day of waiting, (for an oil change?). Do people really have such posh schedules that burning a day for a walk-in oil change is just like peeling off an extra $100 bill to place unsavory chewing gum? “No, I don’t have an appointment” is killing me here in NWA. Grrrr....the Kansas City Toyota dealers typically get you in-and-out for an oil change in 30 minutes (w/o an appointment & just like Jiffy L**e). So should I drive well beyond my 10,000 service interval & even past my destination into Kansas City and get it done at a KC dealership? Do I try a Jiffy L**e and deviate from OEM service and my car’s Toyota service history (a valuable tool at resale). Well I do know that teeny, tiny, dusty little Joplin, Missouri is in between where I am & where I am going. So Stephanie at Fletcher Toyota in Joplin answers the phone & says she can make a super quick oil change happen if I arrive within the hour. I head North. Very young Ashley is like the high school neighbor kid adorable & bounding in smiles, but still wet-behind-the-ears to be an actual Service Advisor but, wow, gets folks right on it without even hearing from Stephanie. I’m done in 27 minutes with Ashley telling me she’s already ordered the free parts I need for something Toyota is fixing free for me next time I come in. Also she built me a steal of a package deal for me to think about by the next time I need my oil changed, it includes bunches of other stuff that didn’t appear to have ever been completed in my Toyota history. As she’s explaining all the tech stuff to me in precise detail, I actually only hear me saying to myself “she’s barely out of diapers and really does know what she’s talking about”, kudos kiddo. Your gonna be a rock star. In that brief 27 minutes of waiting on my oil change, I noticed right away, this Toyota place had a magnificently clean (and fully stocked) baby changing station in the ultra clean Men’s room (yea folks, sometimes that’s not always “her job”). They had free coffee, water and snacks for me to enjoy as I checked out new cars in the showroom without being chased by salespeople. I noted the clean and secure children’s playroom equipped for kids that would occupy them for hours. Then I notice on the wall a huge banner that says “Home of the Lifetime Warranty”, which Ashly explained later they really do stand behind, regardless of maintenance being done there or somewhere else. Impressed with all my wise choices this morning as I get into my car, I admit to young Ashly that I hate my mirrors pointing down when I put my car in reverse. She walks me through changing the setting on the spot. She tells me they have a ton of great techs including 3 Toyota MDT’s (Master Diagnostics Technicians) with 2-3 more in training. All this has been dealership culture which is where Fletcher’s choices end, however, in leaving their driveway I notice the neighbor immediately next to them is Chic-Fil-A, the most most wonderful car dealership lobby on the planet! Needless to say...”I’ll be back”! Well done Fletcher Toyota in, of all places, Joplin Missouri. A lot of dealerships could learn tons from you. I’m a pretty tough critic of businesses these days so kinda surprised to give them a 100% (like anyone cares about my opinion) but these guys seem to be that good.
