I spent hours making this peony, then gave it to a lake š„²(itās a funny one, I promise)
The first version of this stained glass peony is somewhere at the bottom of a murky lake⦠and hereās how it got there.
A while ago, my boyfriend was heading out for a fishing trip and suggested I come along to photograph my latest stained glass piece ā a delicate peony I had just finished. It sounded like a great idea: nature, golden hour lighting, beautiful reflections⦠what could go wrong?
We ended up on a narrow wooden dock by the lake, with me carefully setting up the shot. I placed the flower right on the edge for that perfect angle. But as I reached to adjust it, I accidentally nudged it with my hand⦠and in slow motion horror, it slipped off the edge and disappeared into the brown, murky water.
We both just stared for a second, then I said, āWell⦠itās gone.ā
But my boyfriend, being stubborn and sweet, decided he had to try and get it back ā despite my protests. He rolled up his pants, climbed down into the muddy lake water, and started feeling around with his feet. Spoiler alert: we never found the flower.
But! He did manage to locate an old pot with his toes (donāt ask me why there was a pot in the lake), and yes, thereās video proof if anyoneās curious š
So thatās the story of the original peony. It lived a short but dramatic life.
Now, Iām finally ready to share its replacement ā the recreated version of the one that sank. Same design, same colors, hopefully less prone to swimming lessons.

Stained Glass memorial for a friend's hedgehog
This is Clive and he loved hard boiled eggs. He was taken from us too soon. I specialize in the traditional stained glass painting techniques which involves baking individual pieces in a kiln for about 6-8 hours for each layer. This little guy needed about 6 layers. It's 8" x 8". Check out my other work!
