Lone Star CASA provides trained community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children

06/19/2026

Today we honor Juneteenth as a powerful reminder of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice. In observance of this day, Lone Star CASA offices will be closed.

On June 19, 1865, enslaved African Americans in Texas were finally informed of their freedom more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This day, now a federal holiday, is known as Juneteenth, combining “June” and “nineteenth.” It’s also called Emancipation Day or Juneteenth Independence Day.

At Lone Star CASA, we remain committed to ensuring every child has a voice and every family is treated with dignity and respect.

🎉 Exciting News from Lone Star CASA! 🎉

We are honored to receive a grant award through National CASA/GAL, funded by the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP).

This funding will support and strengthen our Order to Participate Program in Kaufman County, which serves children involved in the child welfare system who remain safely in their homes while families work through services and court requirements.

While CASA advocacy is often associated with children in foster care, many children need a voice and support while remaining with their families. This grant will help us enhance advocacy services, evaluate outcomes, and identify best practices that promote child well-being, family stability, and positive long-term outcomes.

We are grateful for this support!
