According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires, with three times the daily average for such incidents.
🍗 Keep checking. When cooking on the stovetop, stay in the kitchen and check on the food often.
🍗 Oil-less fryers. NFPA urges those who prefer fried turkey to look for grocery stores, specialty food retailers, and restaurants selling deep-fried turkeys or consider a new “oil-less” turkey fryer type. If you must use an oil fryer, make sure it is far from any structure and away from combustible materials, the turkey is completely thawed, children and pets are kept away from the area, and you follow the instructions that came with the fryer.
🍗 Grease fires. Have a plan to put out a grease fire. Turn off the heat source, and use a pan lid, Class B fire extinguisher, baking soda, or salt to smother the flames.

CPT McBride LOGCAP Support Officer (LSO OIC) and Mr. Ismail “Ish” Young, LOGCAP Professional (LCP) Team Lead attend a HVAC reading in operating room two at the CAKU hospital. The operating room two air flow came into question after separate testing by the LOGCAP performance contractor and DPW personnel. Working together, the operating room’s air flow was deemed acceptable per contract and safety standards. Proper airflow is essential to ensure the hospital meets safety standards and the operating room is available for patient care.
