Meet Titus!! Titus is a 3 year old, 75 pound, handsome, energetic German Shepherd with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He loves being around his people and thrives on activity, companionship, and play. Whether he’s chasing a ball, exploring outdoors, or simply being part of the family, Titus wants to be involved.
He currently lives with both dogs and cats and does well with other animals. We believe he would thrive in an active home—especially one with another playful dog and owners who can provide the mental and physical stimulation that a working breed requires.
Titus is housebroken, crate-trained, knows basic commands, and does well on a leash. He is incredibly loyal and affectionate, always wanting to be near his people. He can be vocal when he feels left out, but it’s simply because he loves being part of the action and spending time with those he loves. He currently lives in a home that has a 6 foot fence that he has not attempted to scale.
If you are interested in adding Titus to your family, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org. Titus is being fostered outside of Jacksonville, NC.

When we tell you this boy was PATIENT, we really mean it. He spent over a year at our rescue, and months upon months in the shelter before that. We have never ever understood why. He loves everyone and he’s got the most delightful personality.
All of his patience have finally paid off!! Our sweet Loki can now say he found his forever home🥹🥹

Hi friends! My name is Shenzi, and I’m a 3-year-old, approximately 55-pound ball of love with a permanently squishy face and a heart big enough for everyone I meet.
My foster mom says I’m so sweet that angels must have come down and smushed my face—and it just stayed that way. I can neither confirm nor deny this, but I am told it adds to my charm.
It’s not entirely clear what my life looked like before rescue, but whatever happened, it didn’t leave a mark on my heart. I have genuinely never met a stranger—human or dog. I don’t need a warm-up period; I simply show up ready to love. Humans? Best friends. Dogs? Potential best friends. Vet staff? Also, best friends. Everyone is part of Team Shenzi.
My favorite things include playing ball, zoomies, toys, snacks, veggies, flowers, cuddling, and following my humans wherever they go. I’m incredibly food motivated and already know commands like sit, stay, lay down, and leave it. Training with me is actually pretty fun because I’m eager to learn and always willing to work for kibble. A yard with a 4 foot fence would be adequate because I love to play but do not try to escape.
I’m also a very curious girl. My foster family suspects I may have some loss of smell, though it has never been formally diagnosed. Because of that, I sometimes like to learn about the world with my mouth and investigate things up close. I already know "leave it" and continue to improve every day, but I’ll need a family that can help me keep building good habits and making smart choices.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have two wonderful foster homes through Freedom German Shepherd Rescue—one that pulled me from the shelter and cared for me through my medical treatments, and another that has helped me grow into the dog I was always meant to be. In both homes, I found favorite furry siblings to follow around, play with, and shower with affection.
I absolutely love having dog friends, and while my enthusiasm can sometimes be a little bigger than my manners, I respond well to slow introduction and clear boundaries. I do best with dogs who either match my playful energy, confidently set boundaries, or have humans who make sure everyone gets the space they need. Once I settle in, I just want to be part of the group.
I haven’t been cat tested, but my foster mom thinks I would likely do well with a dog-savvy cat or confident kitten—especially one that doesn’t mind a little extra attention.
As for the practical stuff, Freedom German Shepherd Rescue has provided me with amazing veterinary care. I was diagnosed with entropion and underwent corrective surgery on both eyes. I’ve been cleared by my veterinarian and am doing great. Because my eyes were irritated for a long time before treatment, I’ll likely always need a little extra eye care. I get regular eye boogers, but a quick wipe with a warm towel and saline drops usually keeps me comfortable. The best part? I already know the routine. As soon as my foster mom grabs a towel, I happily sit down and wait for my little spa treatment before heading back to more important business.
Speaking of veterinarians, I recently went in for what was supposed to be a quick visit. Three hours later, I completed my personal parade route through the clinic, making sure to revisit every staff member, technician, and boarding employee I had previously charmed. At this point, I’m pretty sure I believe the veterinary clinic exists solely for my fan club.
I am potty trained, though it may take me a few days to learn a new routine in a new home. I’m continuing to improve with crate training and I settle much more easily when I know my people are nearby. Because I’m still young at heart and enthusiastic about life, I’ll thrive with a family that will continue my training and help me keep learning.
If you’re looking for a happy-go-lucky, goofy, squishy-faced love bug who will keep you laughing, follow you from room to room, and love you with her whole heart, I might just be your girl.
If you would like to meet me, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org.
I am currently being fostered in Wake Forest, NC.

Meet Jordi!
If you’re looking for a loyal, fun loving companion, Jordi might just be your perfect match! This beautiful girl is 6 months old, around 40 pounds and full of personality, affection, and puppy charm.
Jordi is wonderful with kids, adults, and other dogs. She has not spent time with any cats. She may be a little shy when meeting new people, but she warms up quickly and is soon ready to be your best friend. She loves spending time outdoors, whether she’s exploring the yard with you or wrestling and playing with her foster siblings.
This smart girl is almost fully potty trained and sleeps quietly through the night in her crate. Like many puppies, she’s still learning a few things along the way. Jordi does have a submissive/nervous p*e when she’s excited or unsure, and she’s very food motivated (okay, food obsessed!). Because of that, she would do best in a home where meals are structured rather than with dogs who prefer to graze throughout the day.
One of Jordi’s favorite things is using her nose and brain to find treats and toys. Puzzle games, sniffing activities, and training sessions are right up her alley! She’s eager to learn and loves having a job to do.
Jordi is intelligent, loyal, and eager to bond with her family. She has all the makings of a wonderful family companion. She’s naturally watchful and will be a great protector of her people, but she’s not aggressive just devoted and aware of what’s going on around her. She bonds so closely to her people that she does not require a fenced in yard.
If you’re ready to add a sweet, playful, and loving puppy to your family, Jordi is waiting to meet you! Interested in making Jordi a member of your family? Contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org. Jordi is being fostered outside of Raleigh, NC.

Teddy Bear is an approximately 3-year-old, 81 pound sweetheart looking for a very special forever home. He loves playing ball, going for walks, exploring, and riding in the car. He’s wonderful in the house, has free reign 24/7, and absolutely loves having a canine companion to play with and help him feel safe. He will not do well as an only dog.
While Teddy Bear enjoys adventures and playtime, he’s equally happy relaxing beside you once he feels comfortable. When he trusts you, he is incredibly loving and gentle—he’ll even place his paws in your lap for kisses.
Teddy Bear’s past was clearly not kind to him, especially involving men, so he is fearful and cautious of them. Because of this, he needs a patient, understanding female-only home, a confident canine companion, a secure 6’ fenced yard and someone willing to give him the time and kindness he deserves. This sweet boy may take a little time to trust, but once he does, the bond is incredibly special. If you are able to give Teddy Bear the safe, loving home he’s been waiting for, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org. Teddy Bear is being fostered outside of Charlotte, NC.

Every side is Lu’s good side🤪
Buckle in, you’re about to fall in love! My foster mom calls me Lu or LuLu or Big Clumsy Oaf because I am 96 pounds and 3 years old. I’m looking for a home with someone who loves snuggles, who values loyalty, and always wanted a living shadow. Because that’s me! I’ll be at your side 24/7 and I promise you’ll never be alone.
I had a rough start in life so lots of things are new to me. People can be very scary for me, but once you’ve earned my trust, you’ve earned my heart and loyalty. I’m the dog that waits for you at the door after a long day at work. I’m the dog that lays my head on your lap when you’ve had a hard day. I’m the dog that guards your bed while you sleep.
I don’t care much for toys, but I like bones and antlers. I love to run in my big yard with my foster siblings! I would love a home with more furry friends to play with or with someone who can give me a lot of love and attention. I love long walks and do really well on a leash! Did somebody say car ride? I’m in! I’m also cat friendly and housebroken!
I like to be wherever my person is! I’m also very active and would love a person or family that would take the time to walk, hike, travel, and train with me! I would do best with a 6 foot fenced in yard because I love to learn and I’m very smart– plus I LOVE treats! I’ll do anything for a piece of jerky.
I am crate trained and actually really love my crate! It’s become my safe space. I would thrive in a home with a single person or a pair that could really devote their love and attention to me. I am a beggar! I love pats and scratches and giving big sloppy kisses.
As I mentioned, I’m slow to trust. I get very nervous when new people are in my space and would do best in a quiet, structured home with no children. I love my adult friends and have learned to trust men and women within my circle.
Note from Lu's foster mom: Lu would do best in a home with minimal stranger traffic and with someone who is experienced with not only the breed, but with anxious dogs. He will be the most rewarding companion to whoever gives him a chance! I know he’s brightened my world and I can’t wait to see him brighten someone else’s. If you're interested in adding Lu to your pack, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org. Lu is being fostered in Winston-Salem, NC.

Hey there, future family! My name is Nitro 2025, and I’m a handsome 1-year-old, 52 pound German Shepherd mix with a heart of gold. I might still be learning my basic manners, but what I lack in polish, I more than make up for in affection! I’m medium-sized, with a fluffy coat and endless cuddles to share.
My personality:
I’m an energetic and playful guy, always ready for an adventure. I get along great with other dogs and cats, and I just love being around people. I haven’t been around kids much yet, but my friendly nature suggests I’d do wonderfully with them, too.
I have a mischievous side, and I’m still figuring out what’s a toy and what isn’t, so I’ll need a family who can keep an eye on me when I’m exploring the house. I also love toys, but for me, the fun is in the chase—I’ll drop them just as fast as I pick them up! I am a work in progress with my potty training, so I’ll need a patient and consistent family to help me along. I am crate trained, however.
What I’m looking for:
I’m searching for an energetic family that’s ready to take on my puppy-like enthusiasm and help me learn how to be the best boy I can be because I can play for hours and hours! My ideal home would be one with an active lifestyle, another playful dog and people who enjoy playtime as much as I do. A yard with a six foot fence would be appreciated because of my inquisitive nature. In return, you’ll get a loyal and loving companion who will fill your life with joy and laughs.
If you’re ready for an adventure and a whole lot of love, I’m ready for you! If you are ready to add me to your family, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org. I am being fostered outside of Charlotte, NC.
