Romans Rescue Mission

It’s been a little while since I’ve shared an update from Roman’s Rescue Mission, so here’s a good one.

Luna has officially settled into her role as professional cuddle bug. She loves people, loves to play, and will absolutely claim your personal space the second you sit down. Zero boundaries, all love.

Roman is still running security—head of squirrel patrol, part-time treat inspector, and full-time nap enthusiast.

They’re both doing amazing and honestly couldn’t be a more perfect pair. Watching them together makes everything worth it.

Although we’ve kinda been inactive on here, we’ve been pretty active and very busy helping the rescues and continuing our mission. Thank you for all the continued support!

I’d like to introduce Roman’s new sister to everyone — Luna

Luna is my “foster-to-adopt” girl from Operation Freedom Ride, inc., and I’ve had her for just over a week now. In that short time, she’s already been such a wonderful addition to my home.

Adopting a senior dog was incredibly meaningful to me. Senior dogs are so often overlooked simply because of their age — through no fault of their own. The truth is, the hardest part of loving a dog is the day you have to say goodbye. We’re signing up for a limited amount of time with them. Because of that, many people avoid adopting seniors, and as a result, they sit in shelters waiting for someone to choose them.

But what senior dogs are really looking for is simple: a safe place to relax, love, and just be. They’re laid-back, low-key, and don’t need miles of walks every day. Most just want companionship, comfort, and someone to be near.

For me, I’d rather face the heartbreak someday knowing I gave a dog the best life possible. I love dogs of all ages, sizes, and energy levels — there’s room for them all — but dogs like Luna are out there right now, quietly waiting for their person.

Luna has been attached to my hip since day one, soaking up all the love and attention. She loves lounging, being around people, and just enjoying the moment. She’s playful but low energy, and she’s been absolutely wonderful with Roman. I can’t wait to watch her personality continue to shine as she settles in more.

As we look back on the past year so far since Romans Rescue Mission was started, I just want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has supported Roman’s Rescue Mission. Because of this incredible community, we’ve been able to make a real, tangible difference for animals in need.

Here’s what we’ve donated to rescues so far:

• 4,438 pounds of dog & cat food
• 322 pounds of treats
• Hundreds of toys, leashes, collars, beds, and other essential supplies
• $3,276 in direct financial donations

Every single pound, every dollar, and every donated item goes directly toward helping rescues continue saving lives—feeding hungry animals, keeping them comfortable, and giving them a better chance at a forever home.

Roman’s rescue story is the reason this mission exists, and seeing the impact we’re able to make together truly means everything. This work wouldn’t be possible without the generosity, kindness, and support from all of you.

Here’s to continuing to help rescues, honor Roman’s journey, and give more animals the second chances they deserve
