If your department is interested in a hands-on class, reach out to us at 315-451-0971. We've been offering classes for years, and we still love it as much as we did when we started!

Important winter tips -
Please get a carbon monoxide detector if you donโt already have one.
Hopefully not too many more weeks of snowโฆbut itโs WNYโฆso who knows?!
Stay safe.
Winter storms can create hidden fire and life safety risks. Prevention can make a life-saving difference.
After a heavy snow:
โข Clear vents and fuel-burning exhausts to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning
โข Make sure hydrants near your home and business are shoveled out
โข Shovel pathways and exits so everyone can escape quickly in an emergency
โข If you smell gas, leave immediately, and call your local fire department or gas company

The reviews are in: "Thats a pretty cool trailer. The session was very informative to us firefighters."
If your fire department is interested in a training, Davis-Ulmer Fire Protection would love to host you. It was great working with Onondaga County Fire Chiefs Association.
About the training: An informative classroom session covering sprinkler system types, system components, and fire alarm integration, followed by an interactive, hands-on practical session that allows participants to examine equipment up close and further reinforce the classroom material.

How frustrating is it when the paperwork is wrong or incomplete? We get it.
At our work at Davis-Ulmer Fire Protection, a member of the DU Family of Companies, documentation is just as critical as the pipe, fittings, and equipment we install.
Whether you're designing, installing, inspecting, or maintaining systems, staying aligned with IBC/IFC requirements and NFPA 13/25 is essentialโnot just for compliance, but for protecting owners and the integrity of the system.
This article from NFSA breaks down the โpaper trailโ we all navigate and is a solid resource for anyone looking to tighten up their documentation process.

How many of these parts can you identify without the guide?(Not sure? Totally fine โ our field leaders have you covered.)
What building owners should know is how often an electric fire pump needs to be inspected. Per NFPA 25, thatโs a weekly churn test, monthly visual checks, and a full annual flow test to make sure your system has the pressure it needs.
A fire pump is the heart of your fire protection system โ regular inspections keep you compliant, prevent costly breakdowns, and ensure the pump performs when it counts. Skipping inspections leads to failures, fines, and bigger bills later.
Preventative, compliant, safer.Inspections are a no-brainer.
