This season has not been easy on us! Currently, both of our late model engines are out of commission and need extensive repair. Unfortunately that means we will be taking a break from racing the late model in order to re-group and get our engines back in running condition.

As for the street stock, we raced the 100-Lapper at Flat Rock Speedway on July 25th. We found some speed and qualified 4th. After starting 7th, we made our way up to 4th, which we held for most of the race. Around lap 75, the rear gear broke and we were not able to finish the race.

Due to the costs of the repairs and the amount of time needed to fix the mechanical issues for both cars, we aren’t sure when our next race will be.

Despite this season’s seemingly never-ending issues, we’ll be making it out to Flat Rock Speedway this Saturday for the Detroit 100-Lapper in the Street Stock! We couldn’t be more excited! 🏁

Last year’s 100-Lapper was definitely unforgettable. We kicked off the night by being fast time in both practice and qualifying! After drawing for starting positions, we began the race in 12th place. We fought hard the whole race, making our way through the field one car at a time, and we were able to take home the win! 🏆

Berlin Raceday Recap!

After working hard to finish our back-up engine and get the late model race ready, we miraculously made it out to Berlin Raceway to give it another try!

Practice didn’t start off well. During our first time out, the rear transmission seal blew out and we had to miss the rest of practice to replace the seal.

We luckily were able to replace the seal and make it out for qualifying. We qualified 16th with a 16.903.

At this point, all we could hope for was to finish the 75 lap race. With hardly any data to base a setup off of, it was a guessing game on how the race would go.

We started 16th and for about 30 laps or so, we clocked laps with no one around. At lap 60, going into turn one, the right front tire shredded and went flat. We pulled into the pits and slapped a spare tire on to finish the race. We ended up finishing 16th, 4 laps down.

Although our day could’ve went better, we are just happy to have finished the race. We’ll be back at Berlin Raceway in September to try again!

Two weekends ago, on June 27th, we raced the Street Stock at Flat Rock Speedway. Overall, that day was decent. We weren’t that fast but we got the car handling better overall. We qualified 9th, started 9th in the feature and finished 7th.

After the race, we found that the Cylinder 8 intake rocker arm had snapped causing a misfire.

Our bad luck didn’t stop there…

Last Monday, while doing an engine oil pan reseal in the late model engine, we found the cylinder 8 rocker arm to have excessive up and down movement. Found that the rod bearing had spun, damaging the crankshaft and connecting rod.

We are working on getting our other late model engine finished up and installed in the car. Due to the unfortunate timing of these events, we will not be racing this weekend at Owosso Speedway.

Our hopes are to make it out to Berlin Raceway on July 18th so we’ll keep you posted!

We finally had a good night with the Late Model this past Saturday at Owosso!

We fired off with decent speed again on old tires. We decided to only put on two new right-side tires for qualifying, and we locked ourselves into 6th with a 15.586. The field invert was a 10, which put us starting 5th in the feature. After making some adjustments to help the car being loose off the corner, we started our heat race 5th and finished 3rd!

After the heats was the autograph session. Thank you to those who stopped by! We always enjoy getting the chance to meet and talk with everyone.

Onto the feature, we started 5th and made our way into 3rd not too long after the start. With pressure from behind, we held onto third for quite a while until the cautions caught up to us, and we fell back to 5th. After another caution, we made a pass on the outside and settled into 4th. We ended up falling back and finished 5th!

Overall, we gained some confidence and have more faith that our car can be a front-runner. We’ve just got to keep working at it! 🏁

Here’s our race recap from our first run at Owosso Speedway, this past Saturday:

We unloaded with some decent speed on old tires. The car felt solid and ready for some new tires! We put on some new tires and picked up 4-tenths in the next session. After some tweaks, we locked in 6th with a 15.416. Not too bad for our first race night with the late model.

The confident feeling diminished quickly after. In the heat race, we had a driver error and hit the wall, which caused body damage and the right rear tire to go flat. We did everything we could to get it fixed for the feature.

Starting 5th, we immediately got shuffled back to 11th due to a bad race start. After fighting for 15 laps with an ill handling car, the front brakes overheated causing them to fail, so we had to pull off. Unfortunately, our first night out was not what we had wanted.

This night showed us that we still have bumps in the road, and we’ll continue learning and making the car better as we go!
