On Thursday December 4th my Godmother brought me some sourdough starter. I was excited to try some new recipes! I started with a Boule - a round loaf of sourdough bread. I watched YouTube videos and read what I could find but I still felt unsure every step of the way with this recipe. It's just so different from anything else I've baked before. As nervous as I was, the first loaf came out great! The kids loved it and we ate almost the whole thing that same day! Next I tried Focaccia which I found to be an easier recipe. Last night I made cinnamon rolls which were a delicious midnight snack and fabulous breakfast this morning. I am so excited about this new adventure with sourdough and all the possibilities! 🍞

Odysseus is a great helper in the kitchen. He enjoys cracking eggs and cutting out cookies or biscuits into different shapes. He has learned that helping mom bake means he gets to lick the spoon! 😂

HARVEST 2024 💜
This year the berries ripened early, with strawberries and raspberries ready to be eaten in May. We got so many raspberries and black raspberries from our bushes this year! I planted potatoes, sweet slice cucumber, kale, black cherry tomatoes and jade green beans in pots. We also had some other potatoes and onions in the garden bed, wild grapes and blueberries in the yard. Our cherry tree didn't produce as much as normal and I was too pregnant to climb up on a ladder to harvest cherries from it.
Odysseus was a big help in the garden this year. He enjoyed getting his hands dirty to plant potatoes. He learned to use both a watering can and the hose to tend to the plants as they grew. He was so excited to check out plants each day and pick the ripe produce. His favorites were the berries and the beans. I was really happy with the specific species of tomato and bean that we chose as they produced so much for us and held up to the changes in weather. (We were getting ripe beans and tomatoes from late June all the way up to the end of September!)
I learn something new each year in the garden. It was a great experience to be able to share with my son. I found it peaceful and it motivated me to continue getting outside later in my pregnancy.

This September we welcomed our second baby boy, Aramis LaGar 💜 I haven't posted much but I've never stopped baking!
We had a small baby sprinkle this summer to celebrate our growing family. I made Pina colada macaroons and lemon poppyseed muffins for the occasion. Lots of cookies once baby was born, including the snickerdoodles pictured here. Halloween this year was full of crafts and baking for us! Odysseus has fallen in love with the spooky season! Apple fritter bread will probably always be my favorite fall treat. I experimented with royal icing to make bat cookies for Ody. We made so many biscuits for meals of biscuits and gravy this fall/winter. Confetti cupcakes for Odys 3rd birthday.
Not pictured are the pies I made for thanksgiving, many oatmeal cookies I've made since baby was born or the experiments with vegan treats! 2024 has been a good year for us. I look forward to baking more and taking more orders in 2025!

I haven't posted to this account in a while because I have been busy! I am always taking custom orders which kept me busy through the holiday season. I have been working at the new Ironwood restaurant at Deerfield Country Club & Golf Course which has been so much fun. In addition, we are growing our family! Excited for our second child due September 2024 ❤️

HARVEST
I'm not very confident in growing these root vegetables. I prefer plants where you see the growth fully above ground. We didn't end up getting any garlic from the bulbs I planted. The onions are small but fragrant. I figured I needed to dig them up because the tops have been completely dead for several weeks now. The carrots were actually grown in pots which was supposed to be fine for this variety but they are all twisted and weird. They smell good and I will still eat them, just not sure why went wrong there. The purple potatoes were a surprise actually, must have been some leftover from last season. Overall potatoes have worked well for us and will definitely become a staple in the garden.

Beautiful Dream Catcher 💙 For this one I was able to recycle the blue and pink floral fabric from a notebook. I started making these dream catchers as a way to salvage these old records that were headed to the trash anyways. It feels good to give these old things new life! 💜
