Veda’s first day at pre-school 📚
When we get there she wanders off while we organize all the stuff.
When we’re done we go find her to say goodbye.
Totally ignored!
Think that’s good. 😍

Finished my first real marathon!

🏆 3rd in age class (55-59)


Early in the race another old guy wearing orange passed me.
Then he seemed to get slowed down at a hydration station and I past him.
I was ahead of him until the last half mile when he surged past.
Part of me said, “Don’t worry about him. Run your own race.”
But another part said, “Just stay with him.”
When we turned left to the final stretch I turned it on.
I lengthened the stride a lot. Felt like twice as long.
I edged past and beat him, throwing my arms in the air and collapsing on a dude handing out finisher medals..
It was an ABC-wide-world-of-sports moment for me.
Turns out we were in the same age class (55-59). The push earned me a bronze medal. 🥉
We hugged afterwards.

Sonny showed up at 7:45 PM last night.
For those keeping score: 7 lbs, 4oz.
Melissa wanted to go natural but Sonny wanted to hang out.
After two days in the hospital, we decided to do a C-section.
The nurses were impressed with his lips.
So far he seems like a mellow kid 🙏

My wife Melissa is pregnant. Whoa! She’s due with a man-child on March 6. 👶🏼

I’m in a state of healthy denial. I know that I’m going to have even less personal time than now...and I’m a miser when it comes to my time. 🤑

On the other hand, I don’t know!

I’ve been wrong about a lot of things. Even about what I want. I thought I didn’t want to have a kid, but then we adopted Veda.

Yes, I have way less personal time. My schedule is a jigsaw puzzle. There’s way more plastic crap in the house. And I still suck at changing diapers.

But Veda is amazing. And in spite of the added complexity and piles of stuff, life is simpler. We don’t have to do a lot to have fun. 🛝

I was more anxious when found out that Veda’s birth mother chose us as adoptive parents. Her birth mother had been on methadone treatment for 10 years and was using other substances. Friends and family were telling me that Veda might have learning disabilities or worse.

But she’s healthy, smart, friendly and funny.

So again, I don’t know!

Like they say in the big leagues...
“I’m just taking it one day at a time,” and...
“All thanks to the Man Upstairs.”
