Each year throughout the month of November, we celebrate the beauty and the accomplishments along our journey to LA28 and beyond.

We celebrate the countries we have visited and traveled upon, on our own passports, playing our game, in front of the World.

The continued accomplishments of our athletes both on and off the field and the role they play to the youth who one day aspire to be them.

We celebrate the relationships we have built with countries around the World and the familiar faces each event we go to, and our unity through peace, love and friendship. The true essence of the Medicine Game.

This month, we look back on each of the times that left the World with no doubt. We belong.

We are still here, together.

We recently made the decision to remove our space manager/photographer from the Flying Squirrel Team. This comes in the wake of multiple unwanted advances toward fellow members of the leadership team. After attempts at mediation, we decided it was best and safest for all involved that we part ways. While it is always disappointing to have to move on from long-standing teammates, it is more important that the Squirrel remain a safe place for all. If clarification is needed, please reach out to a community member.

We would like to reiterate that predatory behavior of any kind is unacceptable anywhere. We take accusations seriously, especially in regards to our volunteers and team members, and encourage anyone with concerns to come forward. Especially as a home for traditionally victimized and marginalized communities, we remain committed to protecting any and all who walk through our doors. In order to reinforce this commitment, we’re drafting an official Safer Space policy that lays out the Squirrel’s policies and expectations of member and participant behavior, as well as the paths to accountability we take when anyone involved falls short of those expectations. This will be a living document, to be amended as community needs require. This policy will be up on our website so that any and all who are interested can access it and read it.

If at any point you feel unsafe or unwelcome at the Flying Squirrel, please reach out to us immediately. We aim to protect our members and community to the best of our ability.

Federal agents had stopped a van roughly 20 minutes earlier. It was not immediately clear why the van was stopped or what triggered the call for emergency assistance. In bystander footage of the incident, obtained by WXXI News, a woman can be seen arguing with two HSI agents and demanding to see her husband and saying, "They're not illegal."
