Causewave Community Partners
How Change Gets Going In January of 2016, The Advertising Council of Rochester announced a new name for the organization, Causewave Community Partners.
For most of our 65-year history, our name described us well. But the world has changed. Our community's needs have evolved, and so has our work. Today, advertising is just one of many tools we use to address complex problems within nonprofit organizations, and within the community. Our new name, Causewave Community Partners, represents what we've always been about – putting the cause first in ever

Enjoy:
✅ Free food from Macarollin and Foodlink's Curbside Market
✅ Live cooking demonstrations
✅ Free stainless steel, lead-free cooking pots (while supplies last)
✅ Recycling of old cooking pots
Bring your family, enjoy great food, and learn about resources that support healthier homes. And please help us spread the word!

Congratulations to Dan Meyers on receiving the 87th Rochester Rotary, NY Award!
This prestigious honor recognizes community members who exemplify Rotary International’s motto, “Service Above Self.” Through his 30-year career at Al Sigl Community of Agencies, Dan has made a lasting impact on our community through his leadership, advocacy, mentorship, and generosity.
Dan’s connection to Causewave runs deep. As a former board member, he partnered with us on initiatives that help families plan for the future of loved ones with disabilities and helped develop a sustainability strategy that continues to guide our work today. Beyond his leadership, Dan has been a loyal member of the W.B. Potter Society, a trusted advisor to our staff, and a valued mentor to our President, Todd.
Dan’s contributions have strengthened our organization and our community. We are grateful for his support and proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition

Happy Pride Month 🏳️🌈
Pride Month is celebrated nationally in June, but here in Rochester we celebrate in July, so we get the chance to celebrate Pride for two months.
Our Program Manager, Julia, shared a moving reflection on what it means to be q***r, and her words deeply capture the heart of this community.
We feel so lucky to have her on our team for almost four years, and even luckier to learn from her every day.

This week, we are celebrating two impressive staff anniversaries!
Aaron, Director of Nonprofit Capacity Solutions, is celebrating 14 years with Causewave. Aaron brings a wealth of outreach and marketing experience, an openness to new ideas and a great sense of humor. He consistently goes above and beyond for our team and everyone he encounters. Thanks for helping lead our organization, Aaron!
We are also celebrating Kate, Senior Program Manager, on her 5-year anniversary! Kate brings valuable experience to her role, including time in fundraising and as an Executive Director. Kate is known by our team and dozens of local nonprofits for being analytical, thorough and solutions-oriented. She is relentlessly curious and committed to supporting younger colleagues along the way.
Both Aaron and Kate bring so much to our community, and we're grateful for their dedication, leadership, and impact. Congratulations to you both on these milestones!

Nonprofits are built on resilience, the kind that keeps going when things shift, stretch, or surprise you.
That resilience shows up in different ways.
1.The ability to anticipate change
2.Strong strategic partnerships
3.Innovative ways to maximize resources
Sometimes those strengths are already there. Sometimes they’re still taking shape.
Causewave has grant funding available to help offset the cost of capacity-building work that prepares organizations for what's next.

From sweet stereos to cat-shaped door stoppers to antique tintypes, there’s always something unexpected waiting at Greenovation!
Located in Rochester’s Plymouth-Exchange (PLEX) neighborhood, Greenovation’s mission is to help people reuse items and keep them out of the landfill. Their store is filled with affordable, everyday essentials, including furniture, clothes, tools, plates & glasses, pots & pans, children’s items, and so much more. They even have a program that allows artists, theatre groups and nonprofits to rent items they need for events, rather than buying them.
The Causewave team had a blast volunteering there for the United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes Day of Caring! We spent the day helping to organize, and discovered plenty of treasures along the way. Check out Greenovation here: https://rocgreenovation.org
Thank you, Greenovation, for the incredible work you do to make reuse accessible and sustainable in our community! 💚

Excellent job to the Climate Solutions Accelerator for organizing another dynamic and engaging summit! The event brought together diverse stakeholders and community members from across sectors to explore how we can collectively address carbon emissions (AMPED: Go All Electric & Greater Rochester Clean Cities), the realities of climate change impacts, and affordability concerns for both our communities and workforce. We are grateful to have participated this year as a presenter in collaboration with Council of Agency Executives, sponsor, and had a table at the event.
A key takeaway for our team came from Dr. Nate Hagen’s keynote, highlighting that we may be nearing the peak of the carbon pulse and emphasizing the need to shift from a growth-oriented mindset to one focused on resource protection if civilization is to thrive on our planet.
The summit served as a powerful reminder of how interconnected the work of different sectors is and the tremendous potential to make a real impact when efforts are strategic and well-coordinated.

The lilacs are blooming, and we’re so lucky to have some right by our office! One of the perks of being at the Al Sigl Campus is being just steps away from Highland Park. It’s truly a joy to watch one of the first flowers of spring come to life.
The Rochester Lilac Festival runs through 05/17. Don’t miss the final days to enjoy the kickoff of Rochester’s festival season: https://roclilacfest.com/
