Preparing God's people for effective ministry to the church and the world.

Northeastern Seminary where the unchanging essentials of biblical and historic Christianity are combined with a responsive attitude toward contemporary culture—where Christ-centered people of different ages, ethnicities, and denominations gain the theological understanding, spiritual formation, and proven skills necessary for effective ministry to the church and the world.

Last week, Northeastern Seminary welcomed Dr. Leonard Sweet for a powerful evening of reflection, scholarship, and faith as we celebrated the endowment of the Wayne and Darlene McCown Chair in New Testament Studies.

Drawing from his own journey of doubt, discovery, and discipleship, Dr. Sweet challenged us to pursue both rigorous learning and deep spiritual formation. His message was a fitting tribute to the McCowns' legacy of "knowledge and vital piety" and a reminder that the most important credential is simply this: to have been with Jesus.

A historic day for Northeastern Seminary.

Yesterday, Dr. David Carr was named the inaugural Wayne and Darlene McCown Chair in Biblical Studies, becoming the first faculty member to hold an endowed chair in Seminary history.

Created to recognize and support excellence in biblical studies within the Wesleyan tradition, the McCown Chair reflects a deep commitment to faithful scholarship, teaching, and service to the Church.

We are grateful for Dr. Carr's leadership, his dedication to students, and his ongoing contributions to biblical scholarship. Congratulations on this significant and well-deserved honor.

Welcome to Residency Week!

This week, students from across the country are gathering on campus at Northeastern Seminary for a time of learning, worship, conversation, and community.

While much of seminary life happens online, there is something special about being together in person. Sharing meals. Learning face-to-face. Building relationships with classmates, faculty, and ministry leaders who are walking a similar journey.

We are excited to welcome you to Rochester and can't wait to see all that God does through this week together.

Be sure to tag us in your pics this week!!

TOMORROW, June 7, Northeastern Seminary welcomes Leonard Sweet for an evening exploring what it means to practice discipleship in a polarized culture.

Through storytelling, cultural insight, and practical application, Dr. Sweet will challenge leaders, pastors, and everyday Christians to move beyond “us vs. them” thinking and become the kind of people who bring healing, trust, and the presence of Christ into a fractured world.
