Wild Black Raspberries or 'Blackcaps' as they are often called are native to MN. These have flourished in the cracks of our backyard retaining wall. Once wrangled, they have become a fantastic addition to the farmstead
These were used in our lemonade this week along with some freshly picked rhubarb. Look at the color π
Freshly picked herbs and greens for the new salad this week βΊοΈ
Most of the herbs we use for Heimstead come from our urban farmstead. You will see different things featured in our salads, aiolis and lemonades
The basil has really taken off this past week, so I suspect a pesto coming our way soon π

Thank you to everyone who came out to eat with us. A lot of familiar faces and so many new ones. We are grateful for each and every one of you π
To top it all off, look what I just found!!!! Our first cactus blossoms π₯Ήβ€οΈ
A few years ago I learned that you could grow cacti here in Minnesota, so of course I had to find some. A wonderful lady from Buy Nothing had a few paddles (cactus 'leaves') she was going to toss. Fast forward 4 years and I've finally found the perfect spot for it. The Plains Prickly Pear cactus is native to MN,a perennial & it can produce edible fruits called tunas π A long wait, but they are beautiful and definitely worth the fuss
Thank you to Home Instead for having us at your staff & client appreciation event!
An awesome perk of this job is getting to know the important members of our community that show up everyday to make it better. Thanks for all you do β€οΈ

This year for Earth Day and for the EarthFest Expo we handed out Calendula seeds from our farmstead πΌ
It's a favorite flower of mine that wears many hats. It is beautiful, easy to grow, edible and used medicinally π Mine have just started blooming. If you picked up some seeds, how are yours doing?
