Hard to believe it's already been 2 weeks since returned after 20 years to Roanoke and graced the stage
On November 10, 1975, the SS Edmund Fitzgerald set course from Superior, Wis., en route to Zug Island, Detroit. The routine voyage was interrupted by severe weather, resulting in the historic wreck and loss of 29 crew members. Less than a year after the disastrous event, Gordon Lightfoot unveiled the folk-rock ballad commemorating the Great Lake tragedy.
After 50 years, the song reminds listeners of the dramatic loss of crew and vessel.
