After 85 years of service, the Wasena Bridge will soon be replaced! The project is scheduled to begin in early April, with road detours soon after. ➡️⤴️↩️The current bridge will start coming down in early May on the south end in Wasena and take about six months to fully remove. The new bridge should be done—along with nearby landscaping and tree plantings—by Spring 2026 when vehicles will once again safely cross the Roanoke River alongside pedestrians and bicyclists in newly enhanced commuter lanes.
