I placed 1st in my division & class at the 2022 Battle In The Berms Championship IDPA match yesterday, which came with a match classification bump to Sharp Shooter (equivalent of USPSA B level). It was bitter sweet though, I don't feel like I shot anywhere near my capabilities. I definitely appreciate the bump, but I know I could have done better.
On a completely positive note, I won a gun! It's a Ta**us USA TX22 Competition, which will make a great suppressor host. For those that don't know, major matches generally raffle away a good number of fi****ms. You can't win if you don't come out to participate though!!! 😉 Thanks to Pat's Pawn & Gun Shop in Leesburg, FL for sponsoring this giveaway!!!
This also represents the first official hashtag post for ! More on that soon...

Last minute reloading for tomorrow's Lake County Championship match. Cleaned up my workspace a bit, I actually look like I know what I'm doing. 🤓 Here's to not blowing my face off!

Meh... As a FFL this doesn't really worry me for a few reasons:
1. A roster of what is purchased is never sent. They don't know what exactly was purchased, only a dollar amount.
People regularly buy bulk targets and other accessories. A dollar amount by itself is meaningless.
2. There is literally a code for every other type of business that you can imagine. My background is software engineering, I worked in payment system integrations for a large part of my career. When I started my FFL and signed up for merchant account services, I was actually pretty surprised that codes for gun shops didn't already exist (which leads to the third point)...
3. Most gun shops are currently categorized as "sporting goods" retailers. The average Bass Pro Shop (and other big box retailers) sell more guns than the average gun shop...by a LOT. They still sell WAY more sporting goods though, so their current merchant code will stay the same.
All of the above eliminates any effective means of isolating anomalies in firearm & ammunition purchases, which is the supposed "goal" Amalgamated Bank has in mind for the new codes.

I ran the BGOE Tampa Bay squad through the FBI Qualification today. Collected some good data and helped point out some areas to improve. I'll run it myself sometime late this week. I remember running this for the first time with a few years back, good times!

Despite Houston's +100° temperatures this past weekend, Phase II Collective () provided Instructor Development Training that can only be described as exemplary! I'd like to publicly thank the cadre for ensuring a safe environment to train in as well fostering comradery between the instructors and cadre alike. I look forward to incorporating the skills learned in competitive shooting matches and transferring the knowledge learned to my own students. ⚔️
