Tech support scammers may call and pretend to be a computer technician from a well-known company. They want you to believe that you have a serious dilemma with your computer. Generally, they often require you to pay in the form of gift cards, prepaid cash card, or any other peer-to-peer payment apps because these types of payments can be difficult to overturn. One of the most well-known tech support scams is the Microsoft Support Scam. Microsoft does not send messages or make calls requesting financial or personal information.

What you can do:

If you get a pop up, urgent message or spam email regarding a virus on your computer, stop and follow these steps.

1. Do not click on any phone number, links.

2. Do not send or wire any transfer.

3. Do not pay with prepaid or gift cards.

4. Do not give out personal information.

5. Do not give any remote access to your computer. (Critical)

Sad to say I've seen this very thing! Bugs, dust, dirt and more bugs. Clean the inside of your tower and spray for bugs around it. Your electronics won't last long if you allow for this to happen.
